Silent Hill: Townfall creates a chilling new setting in the isolated Scottish village of St. Amelia, pairing oppressive atmosphere, excellent sound design, and inventive, paper-and-pencil puzzles with an ambitious multi-perspective story. But clumsy combat, unengaging stealth, and a slow pace make the experience frustrating to play, while persistent stuttering still affects the PC version after its latest patch. It understands psychological horror, but its weakest systems make it hard to stay immersed.
