The truth of the matter is that this game is a great look into the concept of relationships, sure there are some bizarre annoyances here and there but ultimately this is a great RPG and something every Vita owner should play at least once.

That’s the problem with this game, wasted potential. The combat was pretty fun after I got used to it. It made me use my head and think about my moves or be punished for them. You can also tell that this game utilizes quite a bit of research. If this attention to detail was spread to most other aspects of the game, it could have been really fun. At this point, though, I can’t say that this game is anything more than underwhelming. The graphics end up looking lazy, the communication is confusing, and things are never fully explained. It just ends up being a disappointing mess that never really improves.

This doesn’t mean that there aren’t significant issues that will upset most of our veteran gamers. Frame rate drops and the exclusion of significant features do hurt this game, but fans who have been waiting for an entry that significantly changes things up will be pleasantly surprised.

The story is twisting and had me dreading what was going to happen at each twist and turn. The atmosphere was heavy and on many of occasions left my stomach churning.

There are plot holes that could sink ships and enemies that are little more than 1 dimensional characters. That’s not even touching upon the massive amount of changes this game dealt with in localization, but I really didn’t want to get into that in this review. If you’re looking for more information on that I’ll place several links in the disclosure.

If you’re new to the series or a returning veteran ready to greet the little pink puff ball again after a long wait, you’re in store for a fantastic ride. While there may have been problems along the way, this has to be one of my favorite games to come out of this year. I hope you pick it up and give it a try.

If you’re looking at this game and expecting the complexity of The Legend of Zelda, you will be disappointed. If you’re interested in mindless fun that makes you feel like a god while playing through it, then you’ll probably feel right at home. It’s Dynasty Warriors with Zelda characters, and if you don’t like Dynasty Warriors, you’re not going to like this title either.

To say this game has significant issues is an understatement, and the blame can't be placed on one team. These issues range from simple gameplay mechanic choices that go against much of the internal logic the game was founded on, story issues that seem to have no place existing in the game in the first place, localization issues butchering the grammar and flow of many important points, and a business practice that uses and abuses its customers. While this isn't the worst Fire Emblem game I've played, I can't in good faith suggest people buy this game as it is.

I have high hopes for this series and I eagerly look forward to the potential next installment. I think I'll be playing through the rest of the side missions this game has to offer, and I hope that my time playing it will be filled with the same sort of wonder I began the game with. That being said, the world Monolith Soft built is fantastic and I encourage you to check it out.
