9 / 10 - Transistor
May 28, 2014

From it's intelligent game design to it's breathtaking art direction, Transistor brings the player into a world bursting with creativity. I found myself immediately entering New Game Plus mode after the credits rolled because I didn't want to leave the world of Cloudbank. Transistor is a game that isn't afraid to go outside of typical video game tropes resulting in a refreshing and fun experience. This is easily one of the best games on the PS4 and one PC gamers should consider.

Darksiders II sits on a rock-solid core that it continually builds upon throughout Death's epic quest. Massive overworlds are full of memorable dungeons with fun puzzles and traversal sections. The fast paced action combat is responsive and gives you a plethora of ways to go about each fight. As well as a fitting and well-designed dark aesthetic placed on environments and characters. All of these mechanics evolved as I progressed, ensuring that the game was always engaging and fresh. Even after three years this game still holds up, and there has never been a better time to join the Grim Reaper for an experience that is to die for.

8 / 10 - 1001 Spikes
Jun 24, 2014

If you don't like being told, "You are dead", over and over again, this game is not for you. It's reasonable to veto out of a situation that brings you to a point where you want to break your controller in half. But if you are up to the task, 1001 Spikes will reward you with a sense of accomplishment only retro platformers can supply.

Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition is much more than a simple PC to console port, as there are also 1000+ changes to the game. The basic framework of the game is similar, but the game is vastly different now than when it was initially reviewed in 2014. I should note that all of the content updates and changes that exist in the PS4 version of the game have been added to the PC version via an update.

If you liked previous Disgaea games, you would be right at home with Disgaea 5. The gameplay works, and Nippon Ichi Software should be accommodated for not meddling with what was, and still is, solid. That said, I can see how the same experience could be tiresome for returning players. But if you are a newcomer to the series or still can't get enough Prinnys, give Disgaea 5 a chance. An enjoyable adventure awaits you with gameplay that represents the best of the TRPG genre and characters you will remember, long after the credits role.

It is delightful to see a developer take feedback on a game and then fix the major problems with its design. A remake forHyperdimension Neptunia was definitely needed and I am happy to report that Re;Birth1 is a success. This is one to look into for fans of anime girls or someone looking for their RPG fix.

There is a better story here than there is a game. If you are looking for a twisted, original, horror themed tale, Danganronpa Another Episode has a great one to tell. It will keep you guessing throughout with visually stimulating environments and cutscenes. While the gameplay will be entertaining at first, it will quickly become just a means to get to the next story section.
