Khurram Imtiaz's Reviews
Inside is, in many ways, a spiritual successor to Limbo. It reiterates on the formula and design established by Limbo and polishes it to perfection. The game is full of thought provoking puzzles and a narrative structure that requires you to think, while also highlighting the negative side of the human society.
Dragon Quest series hit its peak with Dragon Quest XI offering one of the most engaging stories in a JRPG full of unforgettable characters and a turn-based combat system that can tailor to your experience. This is a classic JRPG that is worthy of being considered one of the best games released this generation.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is the best entry in the series and the second best Naughty Dog game after The Last of Us. The game has a great pacing mixed with seamless gameplay and one of the most gorgeous looking graphics that we have seen in a console game so far. It is a fitting end to the adventures of Nathan Drake and friends.
Kingdom Hearts III is a visual spectacle that presents playable versions of the various Disney worlds in a way that has never been attempted by a video game. It has a convoluted story that might confuse newcomers but once you dig deeper into it, there is a surprising amount of depth underneath it backed by a refreshing combat system.
The most ambitious racing game out there also happens to be a blast to play, with fantastic audiovisual design making the races and open world journey all the more exciting and compelling. Forza Horizon 3 is the best thing to happen to racing games since Burnout Paradise.
God of War is a more grounded and personal journey for Kratos. The game excels at world building, combat and exploration but suffers from some flaws with its lack of enemy variety and pacing near the end-game.
Resident Evil 2 is one the best remakes released this generation that not only delivers on the lofty expectations set by fans, but it also manages to offer a fresh perspective for an old classic.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses feels like the culmination of a decade of experimental Fire Emblem games that bring the best out from each entry into a single package. It might not be the best one in the series, but it is easily the most enjoyable one so far.
Monster Hunter World was already a great game but with Iceborne, Capcom has made it even better. It is easily one of the best expansions released for a game this generation and worthy enough to be considered on its own.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is a fan's wet dream come true. It takes everything that has made the original game memorable and expands on it beautifully. It has the potential to become the best Final Fantasy game released this generation, but it is not exactly flawless.
The game also has an incredible soundtrack that is a joint effort between Manami Matsumae from Megaman fame and Jake Kauffman. Both of these have created a soundtrack that is perfect fit for the game. The fast-paced songs fit the mood perfectly and are a joy to listen in the game.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 is, without a doubt, the best modern Resident Evil yet. It has a perfect bland of action and survival horror gameplay, and one of the best implementation of co-op since Resident Evil 5. The short and focused campaign is a fun experience and the episodes are designed in a way that allows for multiple playthroughs. There are also plenty of secrets hidden throughout each episode, which should increase the replay value.
Final Fantasy XV is a breath of fresh air for the series which was starting to lose its significance after the release of Final Fantasy XIII. It is one of the best open world game on the current generation consoles and a return to the form for the franchise.
Naurto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is the last entry in the series and it is arguably the best one yet. CyberConnect2 has nailed the aesthetics of anime/manga and perfected the combat system from earlier games to create this satisfying conclusion in the Ultimate Ninja Storm series. If you are a die-hard Naruto fan, this game is a must buy. If you are new to the series, then you can still pick this game to enjoy the spectacular story and action.
Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- is available now for the PS3 and PS4. It was developed by Ark System Works and Published by Aksys Games. The review covers the PS4 version of the game.
Gears of War 4 is a must-buy for fans of the series. The Coalition has managed to create a sequel to the original trilogy that outshines it in several aspects, while also retaining its true spirit of the series.
As the third entry in the series, Zero Time Dilemma takes a lot of inspiration from the past games while lacking anything innovative to move the series forward. It is arguably a great game but it often feels less polished compared to its predecessors and the presentations suffers as a result.
Battlefield 1 tackles the horrors of World War 1 in an exceptional, but albeit short, single player campaign while offering some cutting edge multiplayer with its operations mode. It serves as the perfect getaway for newcomers as well as old Battlefield veterans looking for a way to jump back into the series.
Resident Evil 7 is one of the scariest games released this generation and a return to the form for the series.
Shiren the Wanderer is one of the finest rogue-like mystery dungeon game in recent years. It features a challenging difficulty but with an addicting gameplay that results in the players spending countless hours in the game trying to get the best loot.
