Fairy Tail 2 had the duty to unleash the great latent potential of the first episode, but unfortunately the developer missed the mark, making an overall inferior title to the previous one.

Hironobu Sakaguchi's last great feat, Fantasian: Neo Dimension reminded us of the reasons why we loved the father of Final Fantasy and his conception of JRPG, without however matching the greatness of his most successful titles.

Following the example of Star Ocean: The Second Story R, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is an extremely faithful remake of the original material which, instead of aiming to conquer the new generations, chooses with conviction to address almost exclusively historical fans and those who still prefer gaming experiences that respect the typical canons of the old school.

Already author of the appreciated remake of Trials of Mana, the Xeen studio has subjected Romancing SaGa 2 to a targeted rejuvenation work and limited almost exclusively to the technical component, making just a couple of adjustments to the gameplay and the plot.

Son of a troubled development that lasted much longer than expected, Unknown 9: Awakening is a "victim" of the exaggerated ambitions of a very young Reflector Entertainment, which has chosen to immediately throw itself headlong into the creation of a complex transmedia universe.

Metaphor: ReFantazio has undoubtedly carved out a place among the best proposals of ATLUS, which this time has finally found the courage to get out of its usual schemes and to propose something vaguely different, especially as regards the setting and narrative structure.

As far from being the disaster prophesied by the detractors of the genre, as the miracle desired by the fans of the great artists involved in this round by FuRyu, REYNATIS is a practical demonstration of how, many times, it is not enough to put together brilliant minds to give life to an authentic masterpiece.

Although the new class system has undoubtedly helped to rejuvenate the formula of the product a little, Square Enix's new "vision" continues to be too anchored to the traditions of the long-lived Japanese saga, which this year celebrated its thirty-third anniversary.

The conversion for Nintendo Switch does not fully do justice to ONE PIECE ODYSSEY, which last year had conquered audiences and critics (albeit with some reservations). Bandai Namco Entertainment's decision to directly market the Deluxe Edition of the product, which at this time therefore includes all the DLCs previously sold separately, does not compensate at all for the serious technical compromises that the ILCA team had to make in order to run the title on the hybrid machine of the Kyoto House.

While not matching the epic nature of Trails of Cold Steel IV, which for its part had the advantage of being the final chapter of a painful and well-oiled tetralogy, The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak is configured as one of Nihon Falcom's best recent productions.

While we find the policy of re-releases questionable, we must recognize that Atlus has shaped this time what will surely go down in history as the definitive version of Shin Megami Tensei V, a title that on Switch was too limited by the lack of power of the hardware.

Also considering the very low price to which this is proposed, the re-release of Monster Hunter Stories is certainly an unmissable opportunity to recover the first episode of the spin-off series and finally step into the shoes of Hakum's Rider.

Since the action RPG borrows several mechanics from games belonging to very different genres, the risk that Stellar Blade would turn out to be a soulless "map" was very high. Paradoxically, however, the aspect of the product that more than any other has been able to convince us is to be found precisely in its solid combat system, which even without reinventing the wheel has given us great satisfaction.

Unlike the previous DLC, which was excessively linear and poor in content, The Rising Tide led us into a more open area and all in all full of optional activities.

Unicorn Overlord is a peculiar product, almost indecipherable. Vanillaware's new SRPG has adopted a refined and articulated combat system that, although satisfying and engaging, may not suit all palates, due to too many automatisms and excessive micromanagement required.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a very good title, which once again demonstrates the enormous commitment put into the Square Enix team in the reconstruction and expansion of Final Fantasy VII.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash totally misses the mark, lending itself to even serious problems and only partly attributable to the low budget evidently made available for development.

Son of a troubled development and studded with "bumps in the road" even important ones, such as the change of engine and developer, Granblue Fantasy: Relink may not be the masterpiece that eight years ago it promised to want to become, but overall it remains an adrenaline-pumping and addictive action RPG like few others.

Putting aside the technical component, which between bugs and frame rate drops even rather conspicuous continues to appear shaky, "The Indigo Disc" turned out to be overall a richer and more captivating content than the previous DLC, especially from a playful point of view.

Years after the release of the previous iteration of the Monsters genre, The Dark Prince had the opportunity to rejuvenate the historic playful formula of the spin-off and ferry it to still unexplored lands. Despite the predictions, however, the development team seems to have almost completely given up on the idea of renewing the mechanics of recruiting monsters and especially the combat system of the product, which appears tired and dated.
