Ugly, unplayable, and filled with glitches, not even the biggest wrestling fan should pick up WWE 2K20 in its current state.
Megaquarium for the Switch is an enjoyable theme park builder suitable for entry level and experts of the genre. Those with aquarium experience will find a lot to love here. It is, however, best suited for dock mode only.
The Universal Monster Pack is an arguable must buy for Pinball FX3 fans. Monster Bash is one of its best tables, period, and Creature from the Black Lagoon not far behind. Be prepared, however, for some graphical downgrade on the Switch version
If you're a Darksiders diehard, consider picking up Daksiders Genesis on a different platform. It's near unplayable on the Switch, but has the seeming makings of a better outcome, elsewhere.
Samurai Showdown for the Switch is a brilliant reboot of a terrific classic fighter. Its unique fighting mechanics persist, backed by a beautiful presentation upgrade. Still, its online community is lacking, and its uniqueness may be off-putting to many.
Doom Eternal does its legacy proud. Unabashedly difficult, frantic, and single player-centric, it knows what it is…and does it well.
All in all, MLB The Show 20 remains perhaps the deepest sports title on modern consoles. There's so much to do, it's the rare game that can keep a sports fan occupied for ¾ of a year, easily. It's not a vast improvement from the prior year's offering, but possesses enough upgrades to justify the purchase leap.
Well intended but average in execution, Red Wings: Aces of the Sky is a noble also flawed attempt at an arcade WW1 flight shooter. Despite occasionally beautiful visuals and audio, execution is sorely lacking.
If you're a Switch owner with a passing interest in baseball, Super Mega Baseball 3 is a must buy. One of the best independent titles to date on the platform – and arguably the best indy sports title, period – it does everything its predecessors did…only better.
Pro Putt by Topgolf is a fun albeit limited version of miniature golf. Physics are good, mini games party-friendly, and it very easy to pick up and play. Still, a simple presentation and lack of variety hamper overall experience.
Trover Saves the Universe is gameplay and comedic excellence. Its awesome humor and interface make it perhaps the best title to date on Oculus Quest.
In Death: Unchained is the roguelite fans or even non-fans of the genre need to play. While it won't blow anyone away in technical features, its robust gameplay, awesome physics and sneaky depth make it an outstanding Quest library addition.
UFC 4 is 1.5 steps forward…1 step back from UFC 3. The series' over-emphasis on realism but also widest playability remains an awkward marriage. Still, it's also one of the deepest sports titles available, and a great homage to the MMA genre.
For NFL diehards, there remains hundreds of gaming hours at your disposal in Madden 21. These same diehards – much like players of EA's NHL and Sony's The Show – will be left with the impression they've played this game before, however.
Tennis World Tour 2 is sadly yet another modern tennis game that falls short. Despite bringing Big Ant over from AO Tennis 2, the game ends up burdened by poor execution and gameplay. Even at a budget price, consider holding off until future patches potentially address these also expand the legends roster.
Easy on the eyes and ears and fun to play, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a simplified title that mainly works. Its horrific paywall system, however, immediately kills much of its good will.
The best of the series but with little improvements over its predecessors, NHL 21 is a respectable hockey send-off for modern consoles. Per prior, NHL still looks and sounds great, but remains hampered by AI and identity shortcomings.
Walkabout Mini Golf is one of the greatest pleasant surprises in the VR space to date. It's the rare truly must purchase, even more so at such a competitive price.
Even with a sizable graphical downgrade, The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners (Tourist Edition) is a wonderful launch title for the Oculus Quest 2. Its attention to detail and outstanding interface truly help the platform and title shine.
Blair Witch for the Quest is a good game at its core, but one which sadly took a turn for the worse in going virtual. Graphics, gameplay and execution shortcomings make the original version of the game a better option.
