Gods Will Be Watching isn't fun. It's draining, sometimes harrowing and nearly always frustrating. Yet it's worth it. It's the emotional catharsis that makes this game moreish, the cultural counterpoint to the mindless mayhem of GTA that makes it important.
Valiant Hearts is a nice game. Nice being a word equally complimentary but damning in its pedestrianism. It's a game worth experiencing; a visual and audial treat; a heart-warming and heart-breaking yarn. But as a game… it falls ever so slightly short of its target.
Beautiful, stylised and interesting. In a world of stale games Transistor takes all that was good from the loved Bastion but makes enough changes that it stand out on its own.
Warlock 2 is an interesting game. Fulfilling quests and establishing a foothold in new worlds is satisfying but the city-building side of the title is disappointingly limited and holds you back more often than it makes things interesting. However, if you want a strategy with a greater sense of progress and purpose, or just an interesting alternative to Sid Meier's output, it's well worth a look.
It's short, it's bonkers, it's hilarious and it's barely a game.
In the end, Octodad is an interesting and amusing title, a good game to pick up and play with friends for short gaming bursts. If however, you are liable to fits of rage then for the love of God, avoid.
The core mechanics of Strike Vector are brilliant, the flying feels high octane and thrilling but the game wrapped around them is frustrating and shallow; neither the game modes nor the maps really feel like they force you to make the most of what your little ship can do.
