In its first week it has already made great strides to show the industry there is a space for new battle royale games to thrive if you do it right. Apex Legends is an incredibly intuitive and well-thought-out battle royale game that is worth trying out for yourself.
NHL 19 stands strong with the other EA Sports offerings this year. Its inclusion of a myriad of different modes and customization add a depth that past installments were missing. Whether you play NHL for its online competitive nature, or you just like to play against your friends on the couch, NHL 19 is a great pickup for any fan of hockey.
While there is a lot to love in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, it left me disappointed in its main narrative. I wish it was more focused on telling the story set out in Remake and its constant need to push the kitchen sink into each plot beat wore on my resolve throughout the game.
Like a Dragon Gaiden uses brevity to tell an important in-between chapter in Kazama Kiryu's life. Gaiden is the penultimate chapter before The Dragon of Dojima is fully unleashed in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
A wise man once said, “Keep rollin, rollin, rollin, rollin (come on),” and I think that’s just what I’m going to do.
Even though the actual detective parts don’t always hold up, the city, combat, story, and soundtrack all work together beautifully. Lost Judgment is an excellent package filled with noir mystery and a stellar cast. It’s worth making time for if you’re a fan of the first one, and if you’ve never played the series before, it’s a great place to hop in.
When Twelve Minutes is firing on all cylinders it will pull you along with its dark and twisted story. The performances from the cast are memorable, varied, and hold weight. It’s an easy recommendation for fans of strong narrative, point-and-click adventure games, or people who just love indies.
Final Fantasy XVI’s grander narrative takes wild turns, evokes plenty of heartfelt emotions, and has given me a new cast of characters to fall in love with all over again. It’s a bold direction that Creative Business Unit 3 has taken the franchise, but one well worth the journey.
Immortality stands alongside Her Story and Telling Lies as a must-play experience that will leave you with a lot to chew on.
Of course, this shouldn’t deter you if you want to know more about the world and its people. All in all, Ikenfell is an easy recommendation for any RPG fan who wants a fantastical journey with charming characters, great combat, and an excellent soundtrack.
The environments, characters, soundtrack, and Bugsnax themselves all tie together in a legitimately funny and charming way. And while you’re here, yes the best Bugsnax is the Snaquiri, thanks for asking.
If you’re looking for a new management sim or just want to mess around for a few hours. Two Point Campus is an excellent place to enroll.
Cats are nimble, acrobatic, and even headstrong creatures at times. Stray takes those concepts and runs with them. Over five to six hours, you’ll enjoy plenty of heartaches, cute cat photos, and a new world to fall in love with.
If you’re looking for some relaxation or maybe a vacation, taking a trip to the Forgotten land isn’t a bad way to spend your time. It also features local co-op so if you’re friend or child wants to play with you it’s a great bonding experience.
Roll7 has done it again with another stellar skating game. This time with OlliOlli World which blends stringing together sick skate lines with a beautiful color palette of bright and muted pastels.
If you’re looking for an exciting platformer with a stellar style and fast-paced action, Solar Ash will scratch that itch and more. Its puzzle-solving and exploration are hefty enough without overstaying its welcome. It’s not without flaws, but despite all of them, the mobility in Solar Ash is unrivaled, making it one of my favorite platformers in recent memory.
There is plenty to sink your teeth into with Deathloop, whether you’re a fan of previous Arkane games or have never played one before. Deathloop is unlike anything I’ve played in a long time and more proof that Arkane Studios does not miss.
It’s hard to pen the correct words when talking about a game that resonates so deeply. You never want to spoil or rob another player of the moments. If you’re a fan of Nier Automata, this is an easy recommendation. The upgrades are more than a simple coat of paint.
If you're a fan of online fighting games and plan to spend a lot of time fighting friends across the world, then Guilty Gear Strive is best in class. If you're looking for more single-player modes and content there are other fighting games on the market that have more options.
If you’re looking for your next world to get lost in Death’s Door is one of the easiest recommendations I can make. Even after beating the game, there is a hefty post-game to dive into.
