The Forza franchise is a prime example of a franchise that not only builds upon its strengths, but also learns and adapts from it weaknesses. Whilst Motorsport 5 served as a stepping stone onto current generation hardware, Forza Motorsport 6 excels and takes what the franchise has learned to form a racing game that is not only full of content, but also challenging and incredibly addicting. Building upon the foundations laid before it and applying a fresh new layer of features and visual effects, Forza Motorsport 6 might be a serious contender for 2015’s racing game of the year, if not the prime contender.

Rockstar's current-generation release of Grand Theft Auto V doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it does improve it to a state where we can definitely call if the definitive edition on consoles. Its graphical and gameplay improvements make the game a much better product overall, and Rockstar seems to have put a lot of work into this rendition rather than delivering a straight port. It remains to be seen whilst remaining players will want to upgrade to this version, but newcomers will definitely be in for a delight. Its only drawback is the fact that GTA Online seems a tad bit lacking at times and doesn't always perform as it should, which puts this game at a hair-length from a perfect score.

9 / 10 - FIFA 15
Sep 25, 2014

FIFA 15 is a well-formed successor, and excels in both gameplay and graphical departments, resulting in a well fabricated product that is both visually pleasing and fun to play. The game contains some glitches and issues as the franchise has always tended to do, but none of these issues take away from the great design and the major improvements that have been made. Much of the formula of FIFA 15 is the same, but pretty much all of it is better. FIFA 15 is a must have for FIFA fans and soccer enthusiasts alike.

Ori and the Blind Forest may reinvent the wheel when it comes to gameplay, but it always aspires to do what it does best, and succeeds on almost every one of these fronts. Ending a trilogy in the videogame industry can be as tedious as it is in filmmaking, but Rocksteady has managed to deliver a narratively comprehensive and engaging experience that is accessible to both returning and new players. Experiences may vary when it comes to variety in gameplay, but ultimately Batman: Arkham Knight succeeds in what every superhero game wants to do: make us feel like we’re actually the hero in question. This may be the last we’ll see of Rocksteady and Batman in a while, but if anything they’ve managed to go out with a bang, which is already quite a feat by itself.

The first game was a real surprise to me at its time of release, but the second game has managed to recreate this sense of awe, providing a game much more diverse and bigger in scale. Garden Warfare 2 is a colorful and fun experience that will appeal to many, providing a much needed breather in a genre that sometimes forgets it doesn’t always have to take itself seriously.

Quite frankly, Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens may be the strongest title that Traveller's Tales has given us as of yet when it comes to adapting popular franchises. Providing fun, renewing and diverse gameplay, the game more than makes up for its length by the fact that what's there is just so fun to play. If there's one Lego game you're picking up this summer, you better make sure it's The Force Awakens!

The Hot Wheels expansion pack may not be what players were expecting from the franchise, but by combining both the spirit of the main game with the insanity of the brand, Forza Horizon 3: Hot Wheels is about as much fun as you can possibly have.

Forza Motorsport 7 has a few issues under the hood that need to be addressed, but the strengths outweigh its weaknesses as the game offers the most diverse and well-presented title in the franchise to date, along with a contender for the racing game of the year.

Grim Fandango has a style of gameplay that isn't for everyone, but if you're into that sort of thing, or if you're simply riding along for the story, you're in for a great and well-written adventure that is certainly worth the price of admission.

LittleBigPlanet 3 may not be perfect on a technical level, but the story and amazing level editing tools are pretty amazing once you get the hang of it. The game has a little bit in it for everyone, and there simply aren't that many games that nail the Play.Create.Share concept as much as LittleBigPlanet.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor may be one of the biggest surprises this year so far. Offering incredibly robust and fun gameplay, along with a detailed world of lore and characters this title doesn't only have the right to be called a great Lord of the Rings game, but a great game in its own right. Its only drawback is that it may be held back somewhat in favour of cross-generation programming.

In the end inFAMOUS: First Light lacks a bit of variety in its main game, but considering its low retail price and form of delivery the game does seem to be worth the money if you're a fan of the franchise or are genuinely interesting in this form of gameplay.

Cities: Skylines – Xbox One Edition does make a few mistakes along the way, but it provides players with a great and mostly feature-complete city-planning experience that has been sorely missing in the console space.

The Coalition has done great work in bringing Gears of War to a new generation, though it’s not always without its problems. Changes in general are welcome and well-executed, though some unkempt issues of the original and some compression artifacts do arise here and there. Some technical issues aside, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is an excellent ode to the original which along with backwards compatibility for the sequels will make for an excellent opportunity for new players to introduce themselves to the franchise, along with returning players who want to re-live this classic Xbox 360 title.

8 / 10 - Quantum Break
Mar 31, 2016

Quantum Break is an excellent addition to the Xbox One and Windows 10 libraries, telling a deep and well thought-out story that not only takes itself seriously, but offers great entertainment value. But for its brilliance in storytelling it somewhat stumbles in certain aspects of its gameplay design, keeping Quantum Break from reaching its full potential. None the less, Quantum Break for all its problems has been worth the wait, and Remedy has gotten their well-deserved spotlight in the industry with their strong entrance to the current generation.

8 / 10 - FIFA 16
Oct 4, 2015

Calling FIFA 16 a bad game would be an unfair remark, as the game is incredibly fun and well-made, but it’s simply very safe in nature, which will be very noticeable for returning players, where the game offers a slightly less exciting rendition compared to last year’s stellar release. None the less, FIFA 16 is still a very solid title, albeit a bit Messi (horrible pun intended.)
