Mr. Shifty is a fun, fast-paced top-down brawler that manages to keep you on your toes as you dodge baddies and beat them down.
Hollow Knight takes the classic metroidvania formula and builds on it by creating a deep, harrowing world for you to explore. Its smooth, intense combat and innovative progression system are sure to draw in fans of the genre.
Holobunnies: Pause Café definitely shows us that the devs are working on something promising and that they’ve got the chops, but it’s still essentially a glorified demo
Switch - or Die Trying is a simple platformer that shines at times but doesn’t really do anything to help it stand out.
Rain World manages to create a big, scary world for you to navigate but it doesn’t really put much in that world besides its visuals. You’re not given much instruction, and after a while it can feel boring and frustrating to get through. The game does offer quite the challenge, but with no real reward or sense of progression, it’s not a challenge you’ll feel like taking on.
Desync can be frustrating at times, but it’s a well-designed shooter that forces you to focus and choose your moves carefully as you battle hordes of neon monsters. Its thumping, bass-heavy soundtrack and neon world make for a very immersive shooter experience, and it’s an easy recommendation for fans of shooters.
While it’s tough to mix complex tactics with mainstream shooter mechanics, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands manages to offer up a tactical shooter that can appeal to a broad audience and still have something for the tactics aficionados. There’s a ton to see and do in their dystopian version of Bolivia, and it’s probably a good idea to bring a friend if you want to enjoy the game’s terrific online co-op.
Torment: Tides of Numenera lives up to the Torment name by crafting a deep, engrossing quest that takes you into a strange world where you come to grips with fate, life, death and everything in between. It’s got a ton of dialogue to read through but you’ll be turning the figurative pages before long, and the story has some truly jaw-dropping moments. A modern classic.
Ubisoft’s For Honor is an enjoyable, visually stunning and gritty experience that might be a bit too original for its own good. Being such a niche genre might push away your normal players, and the singleplayer part might not be enough for someone to cough up $60. Nevertheless, with the right community management, a steady flow of updates, balancing and a ranked mode coming, it could become something great, like what happened with Rainbow Six Siege, 6 month after its launch. Who knows? But for now, give this title a chance as it’s a good one.
With its color-based goo mechanics, Splasher’s platforming turns into a manic mix of climbing, bouncing and dodging. The talent behind this title is evident, and it’s sure to entertain fans of platforming with its fun yet challenging levels.
While its mechanics can be a little finicky, Beholder is a simple game that ends up immersing you in the life of an informant in a totalitarian state, and it’ll no doubt make you develop a fascination with the lives of others. As you juggle your desire to be a good person with your desire to stay out of prison or an early grave, Beholder will force you to make some heavy choices
A great intro to the series for newcomers and another solid installment for fans, Yakuza 0 offers a hard-hitting pulp story about rising to power in the glamour of 80’s Tokyo. Whether you’re street brawling with some drunken thugs or managing your business like a boss, Yakuza will make you feel like a tatted up Japanese gangster.
While Sombrero offers some fun and frantic local multiplayer action, it doesn’t do enough to stand out among other offerings, and its action doesn’t really evolve or engage the player. This is definitely one to pick up on sale
The Division ultimately is a real success for Ubisoft. An old but effective gameplay, is faultless visually at painting every street and every building interior of New York. Too bad some screen clipping and framedrops are cursing us console players, but that's not enough to truly spoil the experience. The game is a must-have for those of you who love the richness of a true MMORPG, with a hint of Third-Person tactical Shooter gameplay, like a Diablo III and Ghost Recon: Future Soldiers merged into one game. After over 70 hours of gameplay, I'm still nowhere near finish, and enjoying this game, its choices, its gameplay and experience. See you in New York, fellow agents
