As a whole, Picross S2 meets or slightly exceeds Picross S in every way.
This version of Shadow of the Colossus is still one of the medium’s most singular experiences revamped and revitalized for 2018. Whether or not it will go down as the definitive way to experience the game remains to be seen, but it is still a wholly unique must-play for anyone interested in what games can be.
On the whole, Picross S is exactly what it claims to be -- more Picross with a halfhearted jab at Switch-specific content.
Steamworld Dig 2 is developer Image & Form’s crowning achievement. It’s an innovative, finely-tuned, idiosyncratic game that ranks among the most ingenious indie titles of the year.
Though the main campaign is a little on the easy side, the continuous ability-switching, along with increasingly complex level design, provides a surprising sense of progression and expansiveness. As a result, 'Bye-Bye BoxBoy!' caps off HAL Laboratory’s puzzle platforming trilogy at a high point.
Despite some relatively minor blemishes, Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment is an innovative and satisfying experience I would recommend to any fan of 2D platformers or retro games.
