Mystik Belle is an indie game that delights on many levels. It’s lighthearted tone and lovable art style works in tandem with clever puzzles to create an experience that any gamer can enjoy. Every new item had me either laughing at the ridiculousness of it or the sheer absurdity of how many items I had. Every new ability made me think about which area I could possibly use it in an act of rediscovering spots in areas I’d already explored, an art that most games have forgotten. Give Mystik Belle a go on Xbox if you don’t already have it. It’s well worth the asking price, and it will most certainly cast its spell on you.
For its price point, the game is solid. Despite my gripes with its reactive playstyle, it is still a great deal of fun. Combat is satisfying. I looked forward to the tiles where enemies spawned in big groups rather than trickle in individually. Those moments made me feel the most challenged and rewarded. The game has a lot of fun in it for what is a decent tabletop game turned board game turned video game. All for a cheap price.
Bastard’s wound makes no profound changes to Tyranny. It provides a small amount of content with just as many paths to choose as you’d expect from Tyranny. Players shouldn’t expect to be blown away by plot twists or profound discoveries, except maybe by some of the companion stories which are the best part of the expansion. Bastard’s Wound is a great addition for players who are thinking about picking up the game with the DLC.
Zwei: The llvard Insurrection does not lack for character. The voice actors for the English version are spot on fantastic, Ragna specifically. The game's quirkiness adds to the game's atmosphere in a very Zelda-esque parade of characters and creatures. However, this does little to keep players interested in the plot or those very characters. The doldrum dialogue is often long-winded, unnecessary and frustratingly unskippable. So much so that I found myself mashing the proceed button while binging Netflix, trying desperately to get to the heart and the gem of Zwei: the combat.
