The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game offers a refreshing combat system although held back by a restricted level design. When it comes to the Nintendo Switch version, it suffers from some annoying performance issues that might have an impact on the gameplay experience.
The first adventure of Luffy the pirate on the Nintendo Switch is certainly not a bad one despite its flaws.
The Evil Within 2 can be genuinely terrifying at times. The game masterfully blends survival horror elements with plenty of action in between moments of silence. As a sequel, it is a bigger, better and ultimately more enjoyable experience.
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is a brutal journey in an alternative history world. It is one of the finest shooter released this generation offering plenty of adrenaline fueled action.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the perfect portable experience on the Nintendo Switch. Not only it offers Skyrim on the go, it also includes support for the Switch unique control scheme making it a great port for the Nintendo platform.
A Hat in Time is a cute and whimsical 3D platformer that draws inspiration from many of the cult classic games in the genre. It brings together a richly detailed world with multiple levels, a quirky cast of characters and supplements it with some fun gameplay systems.
Another indie hit that has managed the transition very well to the Nintendo Switch. A good turn-based RPG that is not as easy to get into in the start but grows on you with time.
The character roster here is incredibly varied and the fighting mechanics are complex although simple enough for newcomers to understand, but it is held back by a lackluster story and arcade mode.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance might lack the technical polish of most large scale projects but it certainly doesn't fail to deliver an ambitious and expansive open world RPG.
This is easily one of the finest remakes by Bluepoint Games. The improved visuals elevate the experience to a whole another level that is unmatched by even some of the more recent open world games.
Kirby Star Allies is the same fun and charming platformer that fans have loved so far. The only thing that takes down the latest adventure of Kirby is that it might be dull if you play it alone in single player so its true potential is hidden in the multiplayer.
A great story and strong character development for Batman and the Joker makes The Enemy Within one of the best efforts from TellTale Games since the end of Season 1 of The Walking Dead.
The Swords of Ditto is visually stunning rogue-lite RPG featuring a procedurally generated world. The experience of seeing the game through its multiple iterations ends up being a double edged sword. If you can ignore the randomness of the world, there is a lot to enjoy here.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is easily a contender for the best platformer this generation. The performance improvements offered by the Nintendo Switch version make it the definitive way to experience the game.
There is a lot of value in this new Ultimate Edition that not only adds 2 story expansions, it also improves the replay value of the game by introducing 3 different looking costumes adding new abilities for Shantae.
As an enhanced release, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition seems to come packed with content, but the performance of the game, especially in portable mode, is rather disappointing. It is a fun Zelda spin-off that offers a good amount of fanservice and serviceable gameplay.
If you have enjoyed your time with Prey, don’t let the random elements deter you from buying this expansion. This is basically the best thing for a downloadable content that the developers could have done with Prey’s gameplay and it is worth its asking price if you want more of the same.
Not only this is a great Sonic game made even better with the new 'Plus' expansion, it also comes packaged in with a physical version that might as well be a collector's item with the efforts spent on it to make it resemble the classic Sonic games on Sega Genesis.
An interesting experiment for a DLC. It is a flawed experience but it can still be fun. This will be quite challenging for newcomers but if you take your time with it, chances are that you will end up loving it.
No Man's Sky has received many noticeable improvements over the course of the past 2 years but the NEXT update is perhaps the most significant one. Sadly, it still has some dated design with the need for the constant grind and a lack of rational narrative that holds back an otherwise enjoyable exploration and survival game.
