Despite Forgotton Anne failing to stand out in any particular area, it’s far from a bad game. At its best and worst, it’s a mediocre story game good for a few hours of playtime. If you’re a diehard fan of steampunk or visual novels, you can probably find some value in it. However, there are certainly better story-driven games to check out.
Octopath Traveler doesn't do anything new, but that's far from a bad thing. The gimmick of eight unique story paths ties wonderfully into well-established JRPG mechanics. In a traditionally linear and restrictive genre, Octopath stands out with the freedom it offers players. This is one journey you definitely don't want to miss.
The Final Station tries to do many things, but fails to deliver on any of them. It has some interesting ideas, but explores no deeper than the surface. It's a perfectly serviceable game, but you're better off looking elsewhere for a fresh and exciting experience.
Aegis Defenders is a passion project in every sense of the phrase, and it shows. From its fleshed-out world and characters, to the gorgeous soundtrack, and frantically fun gameplay, it makes for a wholly unique experience. While each individual aspect is great on its own, Aegis Defenders truly is a game that's greater than the sum of its parts.
Crypt of the Necrodancer is as fun as it's ever been. Tight controls, funky soundtrack, and addicting gameplay blend together to make a game that will draw you back in, death after death.
'Battle Chef Brigade' is an action-puzzler that captures the uniquely hectic creativity you can only find in the kitchen.
