5 / 10.0 - NightmareScape
Aug 21, 2023

Ideas alone aren't enough; they need proper execution. Despite an imaginative and well-crafted story wrapped in gameplay, the game eventually becomes very repetitive. It could still be recommended under specific circumstances, but the very poor execution, subpar technical state, and frustrating controls must also be taken into account.

8.5 / 10.0 - Quake II
Aug 15, 2023

If you like action games, you've never played Quake 2, and you don't judge games on graphics alone, you won't find a better deal on the market right now. For just a few bucks, you can get hours of shooting fun. Even if you've already played the game, it's worth coming back. You'll enjoy the new content, you'll enjoy the always-playable multiplayer, you'll enjoy the slightly improved graphics.

8 / 10.0 - Synapse
Aug 11, 2023

Synapse is a VR action game that offers an intriguing concept and a story that combines Heart of Darkness with Inception. The result is not bad, but it doesn't achieve the promised revolution in the genre. The game lags primarily in the area of variability, which is crucial for roguelite games.

8 / 10.0 - C-Smash VRS
Aug 2, 2023

C-Smash VRS is a game that you will keep coming back to. You can play a level in singleplayer, engage in online matches against someone, and still have fun. However, it could have been a bit better. There should have been more singleplayer content. There should have been ranked play in multiplayer. There should have been more details that would enhance the content, experience, or convenience.

Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons brings some innovations that nicely revitalize the gameplay and offer a new experience, but the game somewhat loses its essence from the well-known series. It provides replayability, but it is still relatively short.

Disney Illusion Island brings several interesting ideas, a beautifully crafted and designed world, but the gameplay starts to feel a bit shallow over time, so it doesn't quite reach its potential. However, it won't be a complete waste of time, especially if you play it with kids.

Some aspects work, the new focus on more team play is not bad either, but in the end, more or less just kids who can be entertained for a bit longer while playing. But even then, after a few hours, they will come up with a request, asking if they could play Mario Party or something more fun instead. Unfortunately, that's the reality of the game where the creators focused too much on bringing something grand but forgot about the fun, which should be the primary purpose of party games.

Pixel Ripped 1978 is a very good game. It's more suitable for the older gamers who can appreciate all the references and memories. It's fun, creative, and never gets boring. Even if we take away the nostalgia, it still manages to engage with its gameplay and story. However, there are also some issues, and the main one is its length. The game could be finished in a few hours, which is a bit short. The music could have been more diverse, and some repetitive activities could have been reduced.

Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission VR is another example of a VR game that feels like it falls short of its potential. It's an enjoyable action game in a genre that is now on the outskirts of interest. However, it may be holding onto outdated elements, as it doesn't bring any innovations beyond what we've known for decades. It also lacks expanded gameplay content or additional modes; simply put, it doesn't offer anything that would extend the playing time by a few more hours.

4 / 10.0 - Afterlife
Jun 28, 2023

It is not necessarily a bad game, although many aspects of it are not good enough. But it also has a few good sides. Its problem is that there are many better VR horror games on the market, which, even if they draw from the same genre clich's, have tried to spice things up in some way. However, here you won't find anything interesting or different.

Cave Digger 2 is not a bad game, but despite its procedural environment generation, it eventually falls into monotony. Online partners in cooperation can help you with that, but even that is not enough in the end. It remains an experience that you will enjoy once, but you won't come back to it.

Song in the Smoke" is an excellent example of how games can effectively evoke strong emotions with just a few words. Cinematic effects and similar elements are not necessary. All that is required is a good idea and a compelling narrative, which is precisely what this game delivers. However, the gameplay itself is the game's downfall. While not inherently terrible, it may not be as enjoyable over time. Despite this, it will undoubtedly find its fans.

It is not a remake, it is not a sequel. However, it is a proper bundle of horror experiences. It is one game that actually offers up to 5 of them. Some of them you may already know, others are completely new. Nonetheless, it is something that horror game fans should reach for, even if they have already played the previous Layers of Fear games.

7 / 10.0 - DNF Duel
Jun 14, 2023

DNF Duel is a fun fighting game suitable even for players who are not fans of the genre or do not have much experience with it. But you won't enjoy the story very much and the online gameplay is quite austere. In addition, the Switch version does not support rollback netcode.

It is a game that remains true to the essence of Star Trek. Fans will enjoy it, even though it doesn't offer a revolutionary story. It's satisfying that it's no longer just an adventure focused on clicking dialogue options, but the gameplay is broader and more diverse. You will develop an attachment to the characters, and their fates will be in your hands. The same applies to your enemies, so it's up to you how you embody the principles of the Federation. It has a certain degree of replayability, although technical issues bring it down.

5 / 10.0 - LEGO 2K Drive
May 29, 2023

Lego 2K Drive is not necessarily a bad game. It's just so unengaging that it starts to feel somewhat pointless. There's nothing you haven't seen before and done better in other games. The driving itself can be fun, but it's overshadowed by the dull and repetitive content.

The game is a fun and addictive retro FPS with a violent atmosphere. It effectively utilizes the Warhammer 40,000 brand and offers a balanced experience in terms of graphics, sound, and gameplay. While it could have more varied levels and smoother platforming sections, it's still a must-play for genre fans.

8 / 10.0 - HROT
May 24, 2023

HROT is a prime example of old-school gaming at its finest. It distinguishes itself by not merely emulating the likes of Quake, Duke Nukem, and other iconic titles, but by forging its own path. The game skillfully incorporates elements of socialist hyperbole, seamlessly blending it with its dynamic action-packed gameplay that is sure to captivate you. While there may be a few minor imperfections, HROT is an absolute must-play for enthusiasts of the boomer shooter genre.

Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! offers something for both young and adult players. The basic concept is simple and easy for everyone to grasp. However, over time, it presents a decent challenge, allowing you to choose more difficult levels that truly test your intellect, speed, and reflexes. It is a pleasant puzzle game that fills your leisure time well, with few shortcomings - occasional imbalance in difficulty, a lack of significant new features, annoying character voices, and some subpar sound effects.
