Gaming since the 90s, hoping for Mega Man Legends 3 to come out one day.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead is a difficult and cooperatively heavy adventure that values teamwork and collaboration above anything else. The story is limited but makes up for it with challenging cooperative action. Upgrading your character and expanding your camp allows for a steady stream of rewards as you inch closer to completing each mission makes every step closer to the finale a worthwhile endeavor. The difficulty can be unfair at times but Overkill’s The Walking Dead has a solid edifice to become something great.

Rockstar Games has a reputation of setting new standards for open world games and with Red Dead Redemption 2 they've done it again. The entire world is a technical masterpiece and one of the most believable virtual worlds ever created. Complementing this incredibly polished world is a story full of layered characters, each with purpose and desire, that makes the entire journey worthwhile. What unfortunately holds back Red Dead Redemption 2 is the difficult controls and sacrificing convenience for realism. Red Dead Redemption 2 takes a lot of risks for taking a more realistic approach that doesn't always work but the phenomenal story and the outstanding open world makes this a western no one should miss.

Call of Duty is one of the notorious franchises in video games and carries a reputation for one of the most acclaimed and addicting multiplayer series. When Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was announced many were annoyed that the sub-series within the franchise known for telling great stories would be abandoning single-player for a multiplayer-only experience. It delivers a by the numbers Call of Duty experience that will satisfy those who love the multiplayer experience but won't win those who've left the franchise behind or had no interest in the first place.

75 / 100 - Transference
Sep 19, 2018

Transference doesn't have intense combat or elaborate bosses. Instead, the adventure is about the experience of being in an unknown world that feels wrong. This uncomfortable tone of fragmented memories, environments, and many jump scares to create a surreal horror experience. For so much Transference does well it length and expensive price tag will bother a lot of gamers.

Marvel's Spider-Man rarely has a disappointing moment. Right from the beginning a combination of high-speed action and outstanding writing creates a harmonious adventure that combines action, story-telling, and graphics for a near-perfect experience. The optional objectives can be a bit repetitive but Marvel's Spider-Man is a superhero game that rivals the excellency of the Batman: Arkham games.

85 / 100 - Dead Cells
Aug 6, 2018

Dead Cells is a punishingly hard roguelike adventure that encourages agility, exactness and learning from your mistakes. You'll die, a lot, but that's the point. To keep trying and attempting to push further into the adventure with each failure. This is definitely not an adventure for those who hate dying. Dead Cells expects you to die, get better, and die again.

80 / 100 - Chasm
Aug 1, 2018

Much of Chasm's appeal comes from the random nature of the adventure. The procedurally generated Metroidvania world creates a dynamic situation where combat and exploration are always surprising. Twisted confinements in this underground lair littered with all matter of dangerous creatures and environmental hazards form a deadly dance of evading and slashing. Some of the random environments can link together for vexing platforming challenges and lopsided enemy variety but the tension created by Chasm's chance placement means that nothing you encounter is expected.

65 / 100 - Narcosis
Jul 21, 2018

Narcosis is a polarizing game, on one hand, the underwater setting and isolation captures the sense of unnerving tension of being alone but at the same time, the gameplay is slow and vexing. The developers successfully crafted stressful situations forcing you to cautiously walk through the next room but also included frustrating moments of getting stuck in the world's geometry. Narcosis is a great horror title for fans of the genre if they can endure the slow pace.

Extravagantly drawn captures the essence of old-school RPGs such as Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, and Earthbound while providing its own unique identity. Octopath Traveler hits you with its charming graphics and beautiful art style before sucking you in with its densely packed adventure that truly captures the essence of a great JRPG.
