No Straight Roads is a powerful journey through one of the most imaginative and creative worlds this year. With masterfully crafted bosses housed in lush environments teeming with detail and a world brimming with life. Mayday and Zuke are brilliant as a dynamic duo that share a deep connection that is conveyed so well you'll feel like you've known them for years. No Straight Roads overflows with visual and audio excellence that makes you crave more but unfortunately, the journey ends too soon.
Super Mario 3D All-Stars contains some of Mario's best adventures but as a 35th-anniversary collection, it falls short of what should be a celebration of one of the biggest figures in entertainment
Persona 5 Strikers is a worthy sequel and while it removes some beloved elements still features that same rich experience fans of the original will love.
NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... isn't a remake, but instead an update of the original game with small improvements, new content, and rehauled visuals. Showcasing how the original game's narrative still holds up today and gives those who experienced NieR Automata a chance to experience the tale before 9S, 2B, and A2. There are some archaic elements that rely on tedious traveling and item collecting but despite this NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... has the same emotionally charged elements that made NieR Automata such a monumental game.
Resident Evil Village is an outstanding finale to Ethan Winters's story and it delivers a profound tale of a father and husband giving everything for his family.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is the best way to experience one of the greatest trilogies in gaming.
Kitaria Fables takes a lot of concepts found in traditional RPGs and combines them for an outstanding fantasy adventure. With the protagonist attempting to repel rising darkness and learning why magic is such a taboo subject. It doesn’t attempt to reinvent the wheel with its systems but instead took what worked in other games of similar genres and used them to create a brand new adventure. Kitaria Fables doesn’t have a lot of original qualities but combines them into one amazing adventure.
Anime games tend to focus on the fans of the source material and because of that, the games are usually of mediocre quality. They deliver a solid experience but never try to go beyond what is expected. Scarlet Nexus does more than what is expected of it and delivers something amazing. An extraordinary experience with a varied and tactical combat system with some bland side missions to extend the adventure. Scarlet Nexus is one of Bandai Namco's best games and if you're a fan of anime this is something you don't want to miss out on.
A timeless classic is hard to develop especially with advancing technology as advancements can lead to certain gameplay systems and visuals becoming dated. Titles like Super Mario Bros., Super Metroid, F-Zero, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Final Fantasy are a few examples of the most notorious classics that can still stand against modern titles but there are many more lesser-known games. Gleylancer is an example of a timeless classic that has aged well and still provides a stellar and challenging shoot 'em up experience but not many have heard of it. Now modern audiences can relive this classic with some new features or take on the challenge of completing it without any of the conveniences.
If you are a fan of first-person shooters you're doing yourself a disservice not to play DUSK.
Halo is why people got an Xbox and Halo Infinite shows us why that is true today but now you can play it on PC as well.
Tails of Iron is a hidden gem within the dark fantasy genre and well-worth exploring if you don't mind all the death that will follow.
Shadow of the Colossus PS4 still holds up today thanks to outstanding game design years ahead of its time. The soundtrack, story, and gameplay can easier be mistaken for a brand new modern release, and those who never played the game should add this to their PlayStation 4 library.
Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds is a phenomenal addition to an already fantastic game. It shares the same quality as the main game and doubles down on feature content with more battles, quests, and challenges.
Cuphead lives up to its initial promises, a beautifully cartoonish game with punishing side-scrolling action. The perfect soundtrack complements the beautiful graphics, capturing the era of old cartoons.
Metroid: Samus Returns gives fans what they've always asked for a Metroid game and everyone else gets a phenomenal 2D action-adventure game with one of the most iconic heroes in video game history.
Life is Strange: Before the Storm Episode 1: Awake starts off this season with a bang. It removes one of the most iconic features of the first season and yet still delivers an impactful story thanks to great writing and outstanding performances.
What was old has become new, showing that Sonic can deliver a thrilling adventure without gimmicks such as werewolves and fishing mini-games. Instead, Sonic Mania is a revival of this retro star at this best, and I hope SEGA makes more.
If a child between Super Meat Boy and The Impossible Game was possible it would be Would You Snail?.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land delivers the same charm and wonder that the franchise is known for but in a refreshing way with realistic things such as cars and soda machines. The phenomenal visuals are complemented by the excellent level design and boss fights along with challenging encounters for those seeking them.
