Nippon Marathon in theory is a good idea, but when it came to actually playing the game I did not enjoy myself and I really wanted to. Maybe there’s fun to be had if played with friends but I was so put off myself that I wouldn’t force any friends to play it.
If GRIS goes on sale I would say pick it up if the art style seems appealing, but otherwise don’t look to GRIS to be the new LIMBO or INSIDE because the puzzles aren’t as deep and the gameplay isn’t as prevalent.
It’s hard to recommend this title at $60 to anyone but the hardest of hard core EDF fans.
Overall this pack wasn’t as great as Volume 1.
Anyone looking for a fun time with friends or a new breed of arcade shooter should pick up Rival Megagun and any fan of game music should definitely listen to Dominic Ninmark’s soundtrack. Stellar work all around.
Return of the Obra Dinn is a unique experience worth every penny. I can’t recommend this game enough. There is nothing quite like it.
Adventure Time fans deserve better.
Only the hardest of hardcore Warriors fans should even look at this title. Otherwise, there’s better games of this type from the exact same people.
Luigi's Mansion on 3DS is strictly a remake for people who either no longer have a copy of Luigi's Mansion or have never played it before. To anyone who still has their original Gamecube copy, just play that; the additions are not worth $40. It's still a great game by all accounts because the design of the game is fun and it is completely playable, but the controls in this version are just awful and with Dark Moon on the same console there's absolutely no excuse for that.
This has to be one of the more original Dark Souls-like games available, and anyone looking for a fresh take on the formula will be able to find enjoyment in Immortal: Unchained as long as they are willing to overlook a fair lack of polish.
Overall this is a great pack of three classic tables.
This game isn't bad, it's annoying. With moments of really solid gameplay peeking through maybe pick this one up on sale but otherwise there are better games doing similar things out there.
I would suggest picking this game up and having it being the side game to the blockbuster titles coming out right now to bridge the gap between the big releases, because it moves fast enough with the plot to always feel like something is being accomplished but not as fast as say Spider-Man that came out the same week. Don't let Dragon Quest XI be lost in the Fall game rush.
There's some unique aspects that I hope are observed by other developers but there are better strategy titles out there like Invisible Inc. that do the core basics better.
With the only downside being that this may be one of the harder platforming experiences in recent years and therefore not for everyone, Guacamelee 2 stands out as one of the finest, and funniest titles of 2018. Don't let this one skip byailable
Wario Ware Gold is the best of Wario Ware and more, and a reason to pick up a 3DS again. It's got a super weird sense of humor that isn't replicated, it pays loving tribute to Nintendo's history, and most importantly it's pure fun. There's plenty of game here for the price as well, with it all being unlocked the more it's played. A must own in handheld gaming and a good sign that the 3DS isn't dead yet.
At the end of the day though, this is just blackjack. It may be the most aesthetically pleasing version of blackjack, but that's it. I would recommend skipping the console versions and trying out the mobile versions instead.
At the end of the day The Long Reach is worth the short time it takes to play, I'm just not sure at full price. Had the ending really stuck the landing on everything the gameplay was delivering I'd say it's a must, but unfortunately the story is just alright. On sale I think any adventure fan will find enjoyment in The Long Reach.
Like the previous Anima title, I think this will go under most people's radar which is a shame. They are a neat series, and with the low price point of $20 I really can't suggest these game enough. It's important to note that both Anima titles are available on Switch as well, so Switch players don't miss any part of the series. Can't wait to see what's next from this series.
With beautiful graphics, a charming and emotive set of main characters, an amazing soundtrack, and wonderful gameplay Unravel Two is one of my favorite games to come out so far in 2018.
