Zombie Army 4: Dead War is a frantic arcade shooter that is a little one-note, but has enough variance in zombie types, gorgeous environments and a robust co-operative experience to make it an enjoyable experience

Rune Factory 4 Special is a delightful game with a ton of content to keep you busy, despite feeling a little overwhelming in the beginning. Good localisation and post-game content around character episodes and a Newly-wed mode will please returning fans.

7.5 / 10.0 - The Outer Worlds
Jun 4, 2020

The Outer Worlds on Switch is a good port of a great game. Some of the graphical fidelity is lost, but a strong art direction and excellent writing make this version worth picking up

A confident first game from Indian studio Nodding Heads Games. Raji: An Ancient Epic features a thematically appropriate player viewpoint, which unfortunately hampers some of the platforming elements, but a simple and surprisingly versatile combat system keeps things interesting.

Kerbal Space Program is a rare game, an unbelievably good simulator that unfortunately suffers from a being a fairly poor port from PC to console.

7 / 10.0 - Ironcast

Ironcast is a solid strategy game, easy mechanics and a deep level of customisation makes it worth coming back to.

Assembly Required is a solid, but very short, entry. Here's hoping that episode three can start to pull it back around.

Fat Princess is a fun, well made, but ultimately shallow four-player hack and slash with a cutesy aesthetic and amusing writing.

Knee Deep has some interesting and fun mechanics and delivers a reasonable mystery. It is just a shame that the quality shown at the beginning doesn’t last until the end.

It's a good start to the DLC schedule, but might not be enough just yet to get people to commit to the full Season Pass. The maps are well designed with lots of fan service and the new mode is a very welcome addition.

7 / 10.0 - Hard Reset Redux
Jun 3, 2016

Hard Reset has a story which drives you forward, but ultimately it is a fun shooter where blowing stuff up is all that matters.

The final boss fight is challenging and worth the DLC, while the PvP arena will keep fans busy for some time, but ultimately the world of Ariandel is bleakly beautiful if unsatisfying.

Sunless Sea is a unique title. A rogue-like set in a Lovecraftian nightmare with table-top RPG elements backed up by some truly excellent writing. The slow pace, and narrative delivery may well put some players off though.

Kitty Powers Matchmaker has a wonderful kitsch charm to it, delightfully self-aware and witty. It does start to show its limitations after extended play, but overall it is great fun and pretty much nails the awful dating experience.

7 / 10.0 - Loot Rascals

Loot Rascals is a quirky turn based card strategy game that incorporates rogue-like elements. The off the wall presentation hides a surprisingly deep system to manage, but luck often hampers the best laid plans meaning progression feels limited at times.

7 / 10.0 - Snake Pass
Mar 30, 2017

Snake Pass is a unique take on the classic puzzle platformer with a genuinely inventive style of movement that reinvents the genre, but a difficult camera and archaic save system takes some of the shine off.

A slow start, but Hero in Residence ends on a high note with an interesting new enemy and a very funny new character.

7 / 10.0 - Aven Colony

Aven Colony is a gentle city builder where you will be tasked with growing colonies in different locations each with their own challenges. Where it lacks in depth it more than makes up for it in accessible gameplay, perfect for dipping into.

A unique blend of marble madness and tower defence that does become repetitive after a while, but sits nicely in the spot reserved for games that are great to dip into now and again.
