Astro Bot is a breath of fresh air from PlayStation’s first parties, as it truly encapsulates that old-school feeling, where Sony didn’t have the same formulaic game and took chances on other genres. Team Asobi knocked it out of the park with a game that is just tremendously fun to play.
Visions of Mana brings the Mana formula to the modern day, providing a beautiful game that is a blast to play. Some slight problems keep it from being a truly amazing game, though.
Super Mario RPG is a faithful remake of the 1996 classic, which adds several new gameplay features and some welcome quality-of-life updates. While the revisioned graphics, sound, and music are amazing, the storytelling is still very basic with a challenge that is somehow easier than the Super Nintendo original. However, if you can stomach the price, which is a bit high considering the overall package, there’s still a lot of fun to be had here.
Like A Dragon Gaiden is another great game in a long-running series, that continues the high-quality tradition. It’s packed to the brim with content and offers great drama that not only gets Kiryu sucked back into the underground world, but also yourself.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 proves why Insomniac Games is one of the better dev studios out there. Although it feels familiar, it’s still one of the better superhero games out there. One could spend hours just swinging around the city, and fighting the villains has never been as fun.
Mortal Kombat 1 is another great fighting game that released in 2023. While it exhibits some of the same faults previous entries did, the Kameo system adds a new depth to the main mechanics.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is an amazing game that has a few shortfalls, one of which is the horrible camera system. It is a difficult game, but once you get the hang of it, you will have a lot of fun.
Tears of the Kingdom is a great game that makes it hard to go back to Breath of the Wild. It improves on its predecessor in terms of exploring and its sandbox method of gameplay, but fails to update the main combat mechanics and weapon system.
Fans of the Yakuza franchise will definitely love this entry and even those who haven’t played a game will find this is a great entry since it’s not connected to any other title.
One Piece Odyssey is a fun game, especially for fans of the series, as there are little nods everywhere that can put a smile on that fan’s face.
KA-ME-HA-ME-HAAAAA! This game is the most faithful retelling of the anime and a blast to play, but it isn’t without its faults.
Exploring the ocean of stars is never better than with this version of the game. There are some noticeable flaws that bring down the score, especially with modern gaming, but being able to experience the first game that started the Star Ocean series is fantastic, plus the game is just fun to play.
Borderlands 3 is the return of the king of loot shooters, with enough familiarity there for fans. The gameplay is the best it has ever been in the series, so get ready to blast some bandits. There’s just a few things keeping it from being a truly remarkable game.
The modern ports of Final Fantasy IX are a great way to play one of the greatest RPGs of its generation, despite a few technical shortcomings that weren’t present in the original.

Offering more options for combat and the ability to practice against enemies, you’ll be pulling off stylish combos in no time. Anyone looking for that over-the-top action game needs to look no further than this title.
