Dragon's Dogma 2 offers an experience with both dated and innovative elements. Some controversial choices, such as those on saves and fast travel, clash with modern standards, but in terms of gameplay and artificial intelligence it is one of the best titles of recent years. The story, on the other hand, remains rather anonymous and unmemorable, but if you are looking for a challenging game that will surprise you between exploration and creativity, then you need look no further.

Mortal Kombat 1 is the perfect entry point for newcomers to the series, while at the same time winking at veterans with constant references and familiar situations. Also outstanding are the design and gameplay twists on historical characters, as well as the novelty of the Kameo successfully paving the way for new strategies and mechanics. An excellent fighting game, recommended both to fans and to those who want to approach the saga for the first time.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon marks the grand return of a saga that had been missing for way too long. A faithful episode to its predecessors but, at the same time, more modern and accessible, even if some difficulty balancing problems can make it frustrating for newbies. SIFU is a tough and unforgiving experience, but it's also capable of being highly rewarding. It highlights the authors' love for action movies such as John Wick or The Matrix, thanks also to several references found in the new Arena mode, which further extends an already excellent longevity. If you feel like putting yourself to the test and do not fear a rather high level of challenge, it's definitely recommended.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy proved to be a pleasant surprise and one of the best superhero titles around, with a compelling story and excellent characterization. With Assassin's Creed Valhalla Ubisoft keeps on improving on the action-RPG formula, streamlining some gameplay mechanics and reviving some others from the series' distant past. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio succeeds in the challenging task of renewing a historical series, creating an ideal starting point for newcomers but at the same time fully satisfying old-time fans too.
