8.5 / 10.0 - MADiSON
Jul 6, 2022

If you’re hankering for a decent horror experience that will give you the willies and challenge your puzzle-solving skills, then MADiSON is for you. If you’re sick of jumpscares in horror games, then consider taking a break cause they’re not going anywhere. If you don’t play horror games and wanna prove to your friend that you’re indeed a hardcore gamer, well…

If you’ve been on the fence about playing Final Fantasy XIV, know that Endwalker is well worth getting to eventually. Sure, you have to play several years’ worth of content, but just know that at the end of that long journey is a finale that will leave you satisfied and ready for more. Yoshida has stated that he’s nowhere near done with XIV yet, so don’t expect Endwalker to be any indication of the XIV train slowing down anytime soon. Consider it an invitation to experience one of gaming’s finest rides.

Sometimes, all we need is just some peace and quiet, and Unpacking reminds us that life is filled with those moments. So we should appreciate them whenever we can, even when just opening boxes all day.

8.7 / 10.0 - Metroid Dread
Nov 26, 2021

Without a doubt, you’ll get your money’s worth with Dread, but if you’ve been cold on the Metroid series before, don’t expect this one to change your mind. This is a game for Metroid fans and as a result, it adheres closely to that formula; but that formula is still really good and is well worth trying out if you’ve never played a Metroid before. Having this game be your introduction to the world of Metroid wouldn’t be bad and would definitely give you a leg up on the other games in terms of skill.

8.3 / 10.0 - No More Heroes 3

No More Heroes III really is the end of Travis Touchdown’s adventures, then it’s a hell of a way to go out. No More Heroes III is the bombastic and absurd send off the series deserved, and while it could’ve used some more polish in places, the passion underneath the rough spots is very notable. SUDA51’s send off to Travis Touchdown is equal parts insane and endearing all at once. There is no doubt in my mind that he loves the world of No More Heroes and will definitely miss the main cast as time goes on.

Dread X Collection: The Hunt is one of those anthologies that leave you yearning for more when you’re finished. This collection has been a wonderful way for indie devs to flex their creative muscles and put together some memorable and concise experiences. The story of Artemis and her mission does a great job of tying the entire collection together, as she is given plenty of time to shine in between the different games you’re playing.

9.5 / 10.0 - Devotion
Mar 31, 2021

Red Candle Game’s efforts should be commended, as they were able to create an experience that burns brightly among its contemporaries. There’s no experience quite like Devotion, as it will make you feel dread, anxiety, and sadness all at once. If you only play one horror game this year, make it this one.

7.7 / 10.0 - Adios
Mar 20, 2021

Adios couldn’t be more indicative of a project made expressly for the simple art of making you feel something different. What it expresses is something that is common for many of us: How hard it can be to say goodbye.
