9 / 10.0 - Sifu
Feb 7, 2022

Sifu is a rare gem that deserves to be discovered, tried out and evaluated subjectively by the widest possible pool of users. Just like our experience with Returnal, we find ourselves in front of a product that, besides marking the maturity of its development team, departs from all those clichés indispensable to grab the largest number of users and stands only on its originality and on the skill of its creators in packaging a title that does not give discounts and does not compromise. Sifu is a collection of genres that come together in a satisfying game, punishing in some ways but never unfair. It's a celebration of beat 'em ups, and martial arts cinema, adorned with a distinctive and inspired artwork that exudes style from every pixel. We're sure it won't appeal to everyone who tries it, but it's only right that it should, to avoid a general flattening of the experience that titles like Sifu want to keep varied and, above all, original. For all these reasons we have decided to give Sifu our Award.

8.8 / 10.0 - OlliOlli World
Feb 3, 2022

OlliOlli World was undoubtedly one of the surprises of early 2022. The developers' ability to blend the original concept of the series with the typical dynamics of two-dimensional platformers has proved brilliant and, in some ways, innovative. OlliOlli World is fun, challenging, satisfying and, above all, accessible to everyone. It meets the needs of both those looking for a product for hit and run sessions and those looking for a more challenging title where they can lose themselves for hours in unbridled completionism. If we add to all this an artistic compartment that, although it is inspired too much by Pendleton's works, manages to be pleasing and perfectly in line with the absurdities proposed by the game, it comes from that OlliOlli World is a product that, unless you hate skateboarding, platformers and Adventure Time, you should absolutely not miss and that, by virtue of having proposed a fresh identity is "different from the usual" to the series, has deserved our Award.

If you've read our entire analysis of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you won't be surprised by the grade beside it. Game Freak's new production is, as we have repeatedly said, a "diamond in the rough". A very important title for the Pokémon franchise, entrusted with the thankless task of forever changing the canons of the series and guiding them towards a new, more modern direction. A task that, however, clashes with a series of inconsistencies, missed opportunities and not very brave choices, which fail to make Pokémon Legends: Arceus shine as it deserves. The grade we've given it represents exactly the nature of this production: a title that's still far from earning everlasting glory, but also far from that ruinous insufficiency that the indignant people wanted to give it ex officio in recent weeks. We are sure that Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be talked about for a long time, dividing the fan base into those who will adore it as a deity from another dimension and those who will consider it, simply, a good starting point for the franchise. Whether you're a die-hard fan or just an amateur of the creatures created by Game Freak, our advice is only one: don't be misled by that amount of content edited ad hoc to show you only the shortcomings of this production, finding yourself proudly waving the pitchfork for something you don't even know, and play it before taking sides... you might find everything you've always wanted from a Pokémon production.

6.8 / 10.0 - Labyrinth Legend
Jan 13, 2022

Labyrinth Legend is not a bad game but it is undoubtedly a production that accuses the weight of its "smartphone" nature. The simple and immediate gameplay is a boon for the type of device on which it was originally conceived but it is hopelessly too simplistic and reductive on any gaming platform that can accommodate more layered experiences.

Going straight to the point Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 is exactly what fans of the franchise have been waiting for many, perhaps too many, years. An anthology of all those elements that at the beginning of 2000 made this series a real icon, as well as the genesis of a genre that would spread in multiple directions in the years to come.

6 / 10.0 - Bright Memory
Nov 13, 2020

The prologue to Bright Memory: Infinite arrives on Xbox Series X to represent one of the few exclusive experiences available at launch. We are aware that we cannot evaluate this experiment in the same way as a triple A production but we have noticed too many critical issues to be able to go beyond a stretched sufficiency.

9.5 / 10.0 - Dreams
Feb 17, 2020

If analyzing a completed art form can be a complex undertaking and that obliges to take into analysis different specific elements ... making a judgment on the instrument to generate that specific form of art, could prove to be a challenge, almost, impossible. Dreams, however, manages to give a mere development tool, a form that embraces different playful and social aspects, giving life to a software able to unite developers and players together allowing the former, or anyone who wants to take this path, to give life to their fantasies, and the latter to be able to access a library, almost infinite, of multifaceted productions that show the inspiration that this media can generate in its fans.
