Jordan Maison's Reviews
The latest Legend of Zelda game on the Switch puts the titular princess in the lead role for the first time for an experience that’s both refreshing and familiar.
With a big focus on stealth gameplay and cinematic visuals/set pieces to keep you invested, it’s been tough for me to put the controller down. While it has the familiar feel of other Ubisoft games, it’s hard to complain when things feel as refined as they are. As someone who normally struggled with open world titles and being daunted, Outlaws felt welcoming in all the right ways.
While I know some players are gun-shy after Aspyr's recent Battlefront remasters, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is a really well-handled remaster. The adjustments made allows fans and newcomers to experience the story in the best way possible
While Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is definitely the middle-chapter of a trilogy, and thus doesn't quite standalone as well as the last game, there's no denying it rules. A multitude of small tweaks and gameplay changes add up to an impressive experience that feels like a giant leap forward, while continuing a great story with characters that find new ways to hook you.
Fae Farm manages to take some of the best elements of Animal Crossing and icons of the genre (Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, etc) and blend them together in an impressive way. With polished controls, and fun tweaks to familiar mechanics, Fae Farm manages to stand out in the (crowded) genre and is genuinely tough to put down.
Armored Core VI keeps kicking my ass and for some reason it continues to bring me back time after time; largely because the mecha-battling action is so good.
Despite it's issues, Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons is easily a highlight of the franchise's modern era. It's simple, yet addictive combat, impressive animation and replay value makes it among the best Double Dragon games we've had in decades.
From gameplay mechanics to story beats, everything about the sequel feels confident and refined. This is a game fully sure of itself and what it wants to be/do, and the result is ridiculously impressive on all fronts.
