Cinelinx's Reviews
Lego Batman: Legacy of The Dark Knight stands out as not only the finest Lego game we've ever played but also ranks among the greatest Batman titles of all time. Featuring numerous Easter eggs, sharp humor, and some of the most impressive combat mechanics seen in a Lego game, Lego Batman: Legacy of The Dark Knight will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most exceptional titles ever developed by TT Games.
007 First Light features a slew of unforgettable moments, cinematic jaw-dropping scenes, amazingly smooth combat, and one heck of a story. With all this stacked up, 007 First Light it is a brilliant action adventure title, and my top pick for game of the year!
Hampered by a surprisingly short play-time and some frustrating game decisions, Bubsy 4D comes up just shy of being something that everyone could pick up and enjoy. As a game in the Bubsy series, however, 4D shines as easily the best game the mouthy bobcat has ever given us, and is easily worth the time of platformer fans and those looking for a quick fix.
Issues with the stealth mechanics notwithstanding, Directive 8020 is a terrifyingly strong entry in the ongoing Dark Pictures Anthology. The game will quickly have you paranoid as you dodge weird alien monsters and try to keep everyone on the ship alive while trying to figure out the truth behind what is happening.
Although Mouse P.I. For Hire occasionally faces issues such as delayed access to certain abilities and the absence of a mini map, its distinctive 1930s rubber hose animation style, quirky humor, and chaotic gameplay establish it as one of the top indie-developed first-person shooters available today.
Capcom has created one of its most innovative titles in recent years, masterfully blending cinematic elements with dynamic action.
People of Note does its best to bring something new to the RPG genre but the final result is decidedly mixed. The game's story is fantastic, but the gameplay is repetitive in places and the puzzles, while they can be rendered optional, are way more difficult than they need to be for a game of this type.
After thoroughly immersing myself in this installment of the Resident Evil series, I can confidently assert that Resident Evil Requiem stands out as one of the best entries in the franchise. The combination of thrilling action, well-developed characters, and a gripping plot not only kept me on the edge of my seat but also made me reflect on the choices I had to make throughout the game.
From the story to the ambiance that keeps you locked in. It is accessible to players of all skill levels and allows them to fully enjoy the experience at their level. It gives us unique monsters that echo humanity’s fall and possess terrifying abilities.
With all these enhancements, fans of these games, or even newcomers, should greatly enjoy the experience Capcom has released. It’s wonderful to see the beloved niche series get new life with this release. Definitely a must grab for anyone who is a fan of these games or has ever shown interest in them.
Tombwater is a perfect addition to the Metroidvania soulslike genre. It did a phenomenal job of bringing Eldritch Horror to the wild west and making it a truly immersive and fun experience. Even with the issues with controls for non-mouse and keyboard users and the sometimes questionable sound choices, this game has absolutely stolen my heart with its storytelling and beautifully horrifying art and atmosphere.
Bungie delivers another thrilling FPS experience in Marathon, complete with their signature gunplay and player mechanics. The game's polish is immediately apparent; everything from the cutscenes to the menu designs feels next level and highly memorable. However, the game struggles with player retention—the "hook." A major concern is how players will remain engaged after a progress reset and how many consecutive losses they can tolerate before giving up.
The latest game in the Monster Hunter Stories franchise brings together everything fans love in an excellent package.
Under the Island is an irresistibly charming adventure that revives the magic of classic gaming on consoles! Featuring stunning biomes, hilarious enemies, and more humor than you can imagine, this game is destined to become an instant classic for everyone to enjoy!
MIO: Memories in Orbit is a must-have addition to even those who aren't familiar with the genre but love a good story and a good challenge. This brings a fresh perspective to the genre and leaves you wanting more.
God of War: Sons of Sparta serves as a strong, mechanically solid introduction to the Metroidvania genre, competently handling all the fundamentals. However, the game ultimately falls short of being memorable, as it never attempts to innovate or push the boundaries beyond the basics.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is a technical masterpiece, from the neon-soaked streets of Sector 7 to the buttery smooth combat transitions. Whether you're a returning Soldier or a newcomer to Cloud's journey, this "Intergrade" package is exactly what the Switch 2 needed!
The Trails series soars to the highest level yet with Trails Beyond the Horizon. New battle techniques refresh an already satisfying combat loop, and the story has enough twists to keep players fully invested for hours upon hours. Highly recommended both for those already invested in the series and those new to the story.
A stellar new addition to the series, Octopath Traveler 0 sets the bar high for any future installments that follow. With a captivating story and a greatly improved battle system, this isn't a game you want to miss out on.
Twisted Pixel and the team did a fabulous job of not just bringing Wade Wilson to life, but also the many Marvel characters that make an appearance in the game and the world within so well.
