SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium Reviews
SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium holds up really well as a 2021 release on Switch, and while the other fighting games in the Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection were interesting curiosities at best, this one feels like a legitimately strong fighting game experience in its own right. The game undoubtedly suffers from the basic limitations holding back other games on the handheld. Still, thanks to the diverse roster of characters, game modes, mini-games, and the sheer fanservice detail, this is an excellent retro fighting experience on Switch.
SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium was the perfect example of how to make a competent and very complete fighting game with the power and control limitations that SNK's laptop had. With its relaunch on Switch it is the perfect opportunity to test this great crossover between the two queen companies of the fighting arcades of the 90s.

Despite the limitations of the hardware, it’s hard not to be impressed with what SNK created here. Even with slight performance issues, this is a fantastic retro fighter, and I’m thankful that Code Mystics managed to bring it over. If you’re even slightly interested in the SNK vs. Capcom crossover series, for $8, this is a worthy pickup for your Switch.
Ultimately, at a $7.99 price tag (at the time of this writing), this game is a must get for fans of the Capcom vs. series, or just retro fighting games in general. The amount of content you get for the price alone makes it worth it. So go on, have fun with the characters you know and love in a new/old way.
