Trifox Reviews
Trifox is far better than I ever expected, Glowfish Interactive’s first original title is one that hopefully will be discovered by many gamers. Trifox has every essential part of a fun platforming game with unique mechanics. Making your own combat playstyle and finding every secret in the levels is the perfect mix between Ratchet & Clank and Crash Bandicoot. I honestly can’t wait and hope for Trifox 2.
I don’t think any number grading could ever fully translate my thoughts on Trifox. It’s a game that does so much right and stands out in the action-adventure genre as one of the more well-designed and creative titles I’ve played in a while. Despite that, there are just too many small things that hold it back from reaching its full potential. I would love to see this team get another swing at a Trifox game, a tightened-up sequel could be a contender for best indie game of the year, but for now, Trifox stands as a pretty good game, but one limited by its own faults.
Overall, Trifox is hands-down one of the most fun games I’ve had the opportunity to play lately. I thoroughly enjoy the game’s atmosphere and mechanics. Though I’m not the best platformer player the game doesn’t make it feel extremely challenging or frustrating to complete. I’m hoping that the game will become Steam Deck verified so that I can take it with me when I’m away from my desk. If not though, I may just have to pick it up on the Switch. I feel this game is definitely deserving of the Thumb Culture Platinum Award! If you enjoyed this review, be sure to check out my other reviews here.
Trifox is a tribute to those of platform and action games like Ratchet & Clank or Jak and Daxter. Its curious system of fully customizable skills and classes makes us enjoy each combat and makes us want to create new combinations, plus its attractive cartoon style and its variety of situations make it very attractive compared to other games with a similar theme.
