RUNNER Reviews
RUNNER is a fun game that takes effort to get into. While the game's aesthetic is fun and 80's synth-themed, the heavy learning curve can deter a few players. However, with persistence and practice, RUNNER can quickly become a highlight of your PSVR2 library. From the power you feel from a successful mission, to the beauty of the anime world, I grew to truly love RUNNER.
In addition to the synth-driven city pop soundtrack, the neon punk aesthetic looks really nice in 4K in PSVR2, and while the vibrant colours may lead to headaches, we like the chaotic, almost violent nature of the presentation. But ultimately, we found ourselves tiring of the overly long levels fairly quickly, and so the title lacks that sense of replayability that’s so fundamental to truly great arcade releases.
RUNNER is my favourite PSVR2 game so far thanks to its intense action-packed arcade-like gameplay, incredible amount of variety, and '80s presentation complete with a banging soundtrack and over-the-top explosions. In my opinion, that's what video games are all about.
