Murders on the Yangtze River Reviews
Although let down by some design choices and lack of player involvement, Murders on the Yangtze River still offers fans of the genre a good time.
Murder on the Yangtze River reminded me a lot of Ace Attorney, but outside of the courtroom. Each case is pretty meaty in terms of the story behind it and how things progress, with plenty of dialogue and avenues of discovery. I thought the writing and how they constructed the cases were exceptional, and with six in total to work through, there’s a good slog of gameplay here. For its price point, it’s well worth around sixteen quid. If you fancy picking a copy up for Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S, then you can do so HERE.
Murders on the Yangtze River presents a complex picture, characterized by elements of strong appeal as well as by significant limitations. On one hand, the game succeeds in capturing the interest of players by offering a deduction and puzzle-solving experience that, at various moments, shines for its ingenuity and proposes some original ideas that stimulate the mind and invite deep engagement. The ability to immerse players in a fascinating historical context, along with the construction of a narrative that weaves mysteries and investigations along the banks of the majestic Yangtze River, contributes to creating a memorable setting that enriches the gaming experience.
