While gaming is a huge part of this world, and side-scrollers aren’t particularly my favourite, I found myself wanting to try over and over and over again to get better. I think Anomaly President has an excellent team behind it and is a massively fun game to play, and I am excited to see how they expand from where it is now.
Anomaly President does not need another dozen systems piled on top of what is already there. It needs to polish what it has, reduce the chores, smooth out the repetition, and finish the campaign. Do that, and this strange little political roguelike could become something genuinely special.
"When an election campaign turns into a nocturnal war against corruption" Anomaly President succeeds in transforming a bizarre concept—blending presidential elections with combat—into a roguelike experience with a distinct identity. The combat is fast-paced and engaging; the progression and team-management systems add variety, while a narrative that reacts to failure lends the story unexpected depth. Furthermore, the 2.5D pixel art style and the music effectively enhance the game’s unique character. Although some level designs feel repetitive and the roguelike mechanics lack significant innovation, the game still offers a standout experience with plenty of room for improvement.
