BLACKSHARD is a mysterious exploration game built around atmosphere, brutalist architecture and discovery. We played it on PS5 to find out whether getting lost in its strange world is worth the journey.
Blackshard isn’t a game for everyone; it’s a small work that captivates and draws you in—but only if you’re willing to embark on an experience, to let yourself be transported to an incomprehensible and remote place, with little else to do but explore it and try to unravel its mysteries. It’s almost pointless to criticize the lack of gameplay—that’s not the development team’s goal. But if you look at it from an artistic perspective, setting aside a few imperfections, what you have before your eyes is a charming little gem, as mysterious as the labyrinth the player is led to explore.
