Star Trek: Outposts Unknown doesn't need to become a completely different game to work. It needs to make its existing systems more responsive, give you more meaningful activities between construction projects, and make scientific exploration feel rewarding rather than another step in a lengthy resource-gathering process. With those improvements, its central idea could become something worth returning to. For now, though, this expedition still has plenty of work to do.
Star Trek: Outposts simply needs to make those activities more responsive and rewarding. With better crew behavior, improved resource management, and less time spent waiting, it could become a much stronger experience. For now, it offers a good mission, but frustrating systems stand between you and the finished outpost.
