Ayo: A Rain Tale has a strong story and even though it's a short one, I got a lot out of the hard journey that the titular character undertakes.
Ayo: A Rain Tale spices up a platformer with a unique vision and backs it up with a strong central idea, making what would otherwise be a merely adequate game a rare gem.
If gameplay is the only way to teach us a lesson, Inkline falls short on that task. But when looking through the entire picture, it's easy to ignore the game's shortcomings and appreciate it for the goal it's trying to accomplish. It's a laudable and valiant effort, and Inkline should continue with these ventures.
It feels like Ayo was so concerned with establishing itself as a game and gradually ramping up the difficulty that it forgot to ensure that all of the things it does to those ends are fun and fair.
