Ghost Recon Breakpoint is no longer a sandbox. It adds lots of RPG elements that make the game closer to an MMO like The Division. Sometimes it is confusing due to the huge density of the map and it´s many options, but the great military action is still there. Some technical issues.

The player character customization is also a lot more detailed than its Division cousin, which of course sets up an opportunity to throw even more microtransactions at the player. The good news is that player progression isn't tied to anything that can be bought for real money. Though the in-world currency is sold for real cash, there is no need to buy it if you'd rather avoid the premium economy.

Unlike its predecessor, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint risks alienating the very community it was built for due to its over-reliance on RPG-esque looting and leveling mechanics. However, shooter fans who can make peace with the game's loot-driven economy and pervasive microtransactions will find a lot to enjoy in the moment-to-moment gameplay. Breakpoint isn't quite the tactical shooter sequel fans asked for, but there's no denying the amount of long-term value it offers to shooter fans of all stripes.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is a well made successor to Wildlands that doesn't really manage to iron out every flaw of its predecessor. Countless bugs and lifeless NPCs reduce the otherwise great realistic shooter experience. If you are looking for a good tactical shooter at the moment you should still definitely get this game, no matter if you want to play it in Singleplayer or in Co-Op online with friends.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint doesn't do anything new but still provides a lot of fun, if you're willing to slow down and play tactically. The game falls short in many areas and doesn't quite keep up with it's competition but shooter and stealth fans will have a blast. Performance issues do hinder the experience and some questionable design choices left me baffled. Breakpoint, in its nature has an interesting and enjoyable gameplay that unfortunately hasn't been well integrated in the world of the game. Tiresome side quests, depthless and cliche story, forgettable characters and various technical issues doesn't let the game offer a refreshing experience for the players. However, lack of competitive and strong titles in tactical shooter genre is the reason for this series to become the only option for the fans of this genre. Abundance of shameless microtransactions is another reason to reduce the experience for the players to the lowest amount possible.

Ubisoft might have excessively applied its open-world formula in the creation of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. Even with a great map and yet a good gunplay, uninspiring activities, a story without direction and forcing the game into an even bigger version of The Division clearly do not fit in with everything the series has featured in decades. While the cooperative factor may motivate you to tackle this arduous task, it is only valid with low investment and a lot of patience.

However, if you’re a fan of Wildlands and modern open-world shooters, then you’ll enjoy this game. No matter how you turn it around, Ubisoft makes an exemplary crash landing with Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint. What seems promising in theory, has serious problems in practice - this time Ubisoft's generic formula is much harder than expected. Ubisoft relies on a simple milkmaid calculation, which in the end doesn't work out surprisingly: more levels, more loops, more content, but also more of the bugs and the tiring uniformity. A service game through and through, where the entertainment factor has to stay on the sidelines for the benefit of the commercial idea. Hardcore fans will still be able to make peace due to the immense size of the game and the continued support, everyone else should at least wait until Breakpoint has survived his teething troubles.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a game that wants to evolve, but has trouble picking a direction. There's an extensive amount of loot, but that can get in the way of player choice in terms of specific playstyle. Equipping loot to keep up your gear score is needed to fight drone enemies, but most human enemies can be killed with a headshot, making it useless at the same time. The survival system is a selling point, but it can be largely ignored. Breakpoint needed a real direction, because what's left is just Wildlands 2.0. And doing the same thing has less impact years later.

It seems like Breakpoint saw the Assassin’s Creeds, the Far Cry’s, and The Divisions and decided it wanted to incorporate that into its own game. The issue is that throwing everything and the kitchen sink into the game isn’t going to make it great.

Looting for better gear is a trend that's taken over gaming, but it's never seemed as unnecessary and as cynical as it does in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Turning the game into an amalgamation of Wildlands and The Division, Breakpoint's gear system ruins any immersion you may have felt in pretending to be an elite spec ops soldier. If that was the game's only issue, it might have still been salvageable, but its predictable story, graphical infidelity, and obnoxious open world make this a failed experiment at marrying two or three different properties from the same publisher.

Poorly stapled-on mechanics and a general lack of polish make Breakpoint's open-world tactics simply not worth the time.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a messy game that half-heartedly tries to do too many things, resulting in a game that lacks a firm identity as to what it wants to be.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a gaming experience at most mediocre, packed with all the worst practices that the videogame industry can give and completely decimated by an embarrassing level of polish. This looter shooter seems to want to squander its large budget, failing to develop its premise in a way at least remotely meaningful.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint should be the breaking point for Ubisoft's open world design by committee. There's an entertaining experience buried somewhere under the bloat and I had some fun at times in the game – I love infiltrating bases, but everything surrounding that is a pain. Maybe, just maybe, not every game needs to be open world? Maybe not every game needs a gear score? Sometimes simplicity is key.

A pile of ideas that are not connected to each other. Ubisoft had an opportunity to produce a perfect sequel to Wildlands, but instead they created something disconcerted and not even remotely fun.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint gets the fundamentals right, with excellent gunplay and fun stealth missions that encourage strategy with a friend via online co-op. Unfortunately those are the only positives in a game riddled with technical issues and exploitative microtransactions.

Everything that Ghost Recon: Breakpoint does well, has already been done well in the Wildlands, or is a new feature with a big "but". Apart from a nicely crafted fictional world with a stronger story and a simple survival, Breakpoint doesn't innovate much. If you really enjoyed Wildlands, explored it through-and-through and want more of that - Breakpoint is a possible recommendation. Otherwise, you won't lose much if you skip this one.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a complete failure of the franchise. Unbelievable amount of bugs, outdated AI and shallow story are only some of the problems in this game. Ubisoft has tried to use various gameplay mechanics in Breakpoint but the result is a messy game that won't satisfy anyone.

There is no saving Ghost Recon Breakpoint. It’s a disgustingly predatory experience wrapped around an expansive world with the soul of a corporate PowerPoint. It’s got all the features modern open world games have, but with none of the heart. If Ubisoft were aiming to make the dullest experience possible, well done, they’ve achieved their goal with flying colours.

As a longtime fan of the series and as someone that honestly tried to give this a shot, I'm sorry to say that Breakpoint is a failure. I suppose the game can only get better from here, but it is not currently in a shape to even be considered finished.

Ubisoft has failed in two areas where it usually excels here – sequels and open worlds – but there’s still a small glimmer of hope in another area: reinvention. Perhaps this concept will get scrapped entirely for the next one and we’ll go back to the good old days where Ghost Recon was an excellent shooter with its own identity. Right now it’s out of focus, confused, and frustrating. A ghost of its former self.
