Fortnite is celebrating the holidays with its Winterfest event, which starts today, and lasts until January 2nd.

Through the Winterfest event, Fortnite players will be able to receive a number of free holiday themed items. When they drop into the game's in-game lobby, players will see a new snowflake tab. By clicking it, they will be taken to the Winterfest Lodge. It is here that they will find presents to open for free items.

For the next 14 days, players can unwrap a new present at the Lodge. Inside the presents are two Outfits, two Gliders, two Pickaxes, two Wraps, one Emotes, and more. All of these items will be exclusive to this year's Winterfest. Gamers are able to return everyday and open a new present. If any days are missed, players have until January 7th to return to the Lodge and open those presents.

In the Winterfest Lodge, players will also find stockings. The stocking will provide a new Challenge every day, which can be completed for rewards and XP. As with the presents, players will have until January 7th to get any challenges that they may have missed. From December 18th to January 2nd, a few weapons will be unvaulted, including Wick's Bounty, Arsenal, and more. Zone Wars will also be running through the holidays.

Along with Winterfest, a new patch has been released for Fortnite. This new patch adds Battle Lab Mode. In Battle Lab, players jump into their own island and set the rules. They can select their favorite LTM loot pools, set up combat scenarios with the new Bot Grenades, and create their own modes using options such as gravity and fall damage. The game can be filled with up to 15 friends on their own, or matchmake with default options in a public Battle Lab. Playground has been incorporated under Creative. Creative maps can be played with others by queuing for Creative and choosing "Play" instead of "Create." There are also a number of bug fixes, which can be seen here.
