New content has dropped for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare today, including new modes and maps.

The two new maps are Vacant and Shipment, both from Call of Duty 4. The maps are playable in traditional multiplayer modes, while a smaller version of Shipment will be available in Gunfight. Spec Ops mode is getting new content, with Operation Strongbox and two classic missions: Disinform and Bomb Squad.

Also releasing is a new mode, entitled Cranked. Cranked first debuted in Call of Duty: Ghosts, and is making a return in Modern Warfare. This mode is similar to Team Deathmatch, with one big difference. Players are given 30 seconds to get a kill, or else they will explode.

Nikto will join the Allegiance forces today. He is similar to Mara. Unlike Mara, however, Nikto is not a part of the Battle Pass. Instead, he will be a part of a 2,400 CP bundle.

Along with the release of the patch, it has been announced that this weekend double XP will be active. This will begin on Friday at 10 am PT, 1 pm EST, and 6 pm UK.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's first season of content began on December 3rd. It was released simultaneously on all platforms. There will be a number of new maps, modes, Special Ops experiences, and weapons throughout the season. Season One is free to all players, replacing a Season Pass with a Battle Pass, where players earn content rather than purchasing it.

Last week more definitive evidence of Modern Warfare's Battle Royale mode was found. A Reddit user by the name of Nateberg3 posted a video of themselves floating over an unfamiliar map after trying to join a Spec Ops match. They were able to see the entire map from their point of view, which matched much of a map found in a previous datamine. According to previous leaks, the mode will release in 2020, and will be a free-to-play standalone mode.
