The Year of Shadow is going out with a bang, as his cinematic debut proves to be a hit with fans. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 premiered last week and was the number-one film at the US box office during its opening weekend.
Now, it's renewed interest in its source material, as players are flocking to Sonic Adventure 2 on Steam. Since Sonic 3's premiere, the 2001 game has reached a new concurrent player high on Steam, as it seems that fans are eager for more Shadow.
As you can see over on SteamDB, Sonic Adventure 2 just reached a new concurrent player count record in the past 24 hours, with 1,061 fans playing at once.
While this might not seem too significant, this is pretty impressive for such an old game, particularly one that most would associate with playing on console. It also means this is the most amount of players who have booted it up at once since the game became available on Steam in 2012.
Of course, it also helps that Sonic Adventure 2 is included in Sega's winter sale. The game's at a 50 percent discount right now, making it just £3.49 to pick up...
