The Pokemon Company has released two new Pokemon games on Facebook: Pokemon Battle Tower and Pokemon Medallion Battle. Both games are available to play right now.
Pokemon Battle Tower is available worldwide. The game was developed by Bombay Play. The game has players stack Pokemon against other Pokemon to create the tallest tower. According to Facebook, players will discover, catch, and level-up rare Pokemon as they compete in real-time against friends or across a global leaderboard. How and where players stack their Pokemon will determine the true Tower Battle masters.
Pokemon Medallion Battle is a digital card strategy game developed by GCTurbo. At the moment the game is only available in the Asia-Pacific region. In this game, players collect, battle, and evolve Pokemon in medallion form. They then use these companions to win gym badges and complete their Pokedex. Players will be able to discover new Pokemon, with new ones begin introduced every month, in order to create even more powerful decks.
In an official statement, CEO of the Pokemon Co., Tsunekazu Ishihara, stated, "We are excited to launch two new entries in the Pokemon Franchise on Facebook Gaming. Launching these games through Facebook will allow people all over the world to experience Pokemon in digital form, and we are especially thrilled to collaborate with Facebook Gaming in enabling new audiences to enjoy Pokemon games online."
In July, Facebook announced its transition of Instant Games from the Facebook Messenger to to the Facebook Gaming tab. This past March, Facebook revealed that over 700 million people play games, watch gaming-related videos, or engage in video-game-related groups on the site each month. The company recently confirmed the acquisition of PlayGiga, a cloud-gaming startup based in Spain, which will be integrated into the Facebook Gaming team.
Both Pokemon Battle Tower and Pokemon Medallion Battle are available through the Facebook Gaming portal.
