One Marvel Rivals leaker uncovered a loot box model within the files, along with animations and references to each rarity.

Marvel Rivals is held back by a frustrating and monotonous battle pass, and unrewarding challenges.

Loot boxes are incredibly controversial and have been heavily scrutinised by several governement bodies for introducing gambling practices to minors. Regulation has steadily improved over the years to combat this problem, hence why so many live-service games have shifted towards paid cosmetics and battle passes instead.

However, @RivalsLeaks claims that loot boxes "might be crapped" in Marvel Rivals, so perhaps these models are simply a leftover from when NetEase was considering the idea. However, they also claim that "The lottery system seems to be time-limited", so perhaps these loot boxes were — or still are — intended to appear only in events.

As with any loot box system, there would have been tiers to each drop. @RivalsLeaks found five strings referencing each quality's colour, matching the animations mentioned prior. The list, presumably from worst to best, is as follows:

Each drop might have also been accompanied by additional rewards, perhaps an emote, playercard, or spray.
