Silent Hill 2 Remake Might Be Hiding A Reference To Masahiro Ito's MTG Card

One eagle-eyed Silent Hill 2 Remake fan has spotted a fun little Easter Egg to Masahiro Ito's new MTG card.

For context, the recently released Duskmourn: House of Horrors set introduced a card called Damnation, designed by Ito himself. It depicts an ungainly, fleshy moth abomination known as Valgavoth, perfectly in keeping with Ito's unsettling art style.

As Reddit user Deus-Ex-MJ points out, in the Silent Hill 2 remake, you can find a book in the Woodside Apartments titled "The New Damnation". They speculate that this is a reference to Ito's work on MTG, rather than a nod to James Sunderland being trapped in purgatory as they, and no doubt several others, originally thought.

Valgavoth doesn't look like a Silent Hill monster, per se, but the Damnation card's flavour text does sound a lot like that restless town.

It reads: "Bound to a single house, Valgavoth simply expanded its boundaries until it consumed the plane, turning a vibrant world into his playground of terror."

A once peaceful and idyllic home being twisted into a realm of torment and suffering, plagued by monsters, certainly sounds like Silent Hill. So, it's especially fitting that the new remake would reference...
