Metaphor: ReFantazio is one of the standout games of 2024. After the success of the Persona series, Studio Zero's newest RPG IP was received very well, bagging the best narrative, best art direction, and best RPG awards at The Game Awards, and even securing a nomination for Game of the Year.
With a sharp eye on political systems, Metaphor fits 2024's news cycle like no other.
With the game getting so much love, fans are already wondering what's next for the Metaphor IP. Considering the Persona series has received so many installments, will the developers decide to make a sequel, or even turn it into a long-running series? Studio director Katsura Hashino is currently enjoying the fruits of Studio Zero's labour, and hasn't really thought about what's next.
In an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, which was leaked by ryokutya2089 (thanks, VG247), Hashino admitted that while he hasn't been actively working on a sequel for Metaphor: ReFantazio, he has some ideas about the direction he'd like to take if the studio decides to build on the success of the game.
We only got a few snippets of the interview, so we'll only know the full extent...
