The PlatinumGames-developed action role-playing game NieR: Automata has reached a new milestone, according to publisher Square Enix, as the title has now surpassed nine million units sold across all platforms.
NieR: Automata's sales achievement encompasses physical sales and digital downloads across the PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC.
NieR: Automata Is The Sequel Of A Spin-Off
NieR: Automata is the sequel to the 2010 game NieR, a spin-off and sequel to the Drakengard series (known in Japan as Drag-On Dragoon). NieR's universe takes place in an alternate timeline and is set after a different ending in the first Drakengard game, released for the PS2 in 2003.
In NieR: Automata, gamers play as Android 2B,who's embroiled in a proxy war between alien-created machines and human-developed androids. The RPG requires multiple playthroughs, which each one revealing new story elements.
