While the Dragon Age series set up a surprising amount of plot points from the very first game, one thing that hasn't remained consistent is the combat. BioWare has played around with it in each game, with Dragon Age: The Veilguard marking the biggest change yet, as it made the game much more action-orientated.
Naturally, fans are pretty divided on this. Ever since The Veilguard launched, many have said they're struggling to return to Dragon Age: Origins, calling for a remake of the first game in the style of the most recent. Others, however, feel the exact opposite and say that Origins' combat is where the series peaked.
This debate kicked off again recently over in the Dragon Age subreddit, with user Katking69 saying that the combat in Origins has "aged like milk."
"I'm saying this as someone who grew up with Origins but the gameplay is so clunky and frustrating that I can never force myself to get past like 25% completion," they say. "Even ignoring stuff like the fade section, the fact that you constantly miss your attacks especially early on is just unbearable."
There's a fair amount of agreement in the replies, with IonutRO writing:...
