We will be getting some Pokemon information on Thursday.

Nintendo has announced that they will be holding a Pokemon Direct on January 9th. The presentation will take place at 9:30 a.m. EST / 6:30 a.m. PST. It will last roughly 20 minutes, and will feature new Pokemon information. The livestream will be viewable on Nintendo's YouTube and Twitch channels, as well as on Facebook and Twitter.

While Nintendo did not specify what the focus of the Pokemon Direct will be, there are a few projects from the franchise in the works. There is Pokemon HOME, a cloud service that is compatible with the Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, and the existing Pokemon Bank. The service is supposed to release early this year, and will allow players to transfer and trade Pokemon from Pokemon GO, Pokemon Let's Go, and Pokemon Sword and Shield. There is also Pokemon Sleep, which is an app that monitors a player's sleep, with sleep time and wake up time affecting the gameplay. The Pokemon Company is also working with Chinese giant Tencent to develop a new game. Tencent's Timi Studio will work on the game. The studio specializes in mobile games, which could mean that their project is a mobile title.

The latest main line Pokemon games that have released were Sword and Shield, which released this past November. Since their release, the two games have become some of the fastest Switch games to be released so far, with over 6 million copies sold. Last month, two Pokemon spin-offs released for Facebook. The first was Pokemon Tower Battle, which has players stacking Pokemon in order to build the tallest tower. The other title was Pokemon Medallion Battle. The game is a digital card game that has trainers collect, battle, and evolve their pocket monsters in medallion form as they try to win gym badges. The game is only available in the Asia-Pacific region.
