The team behind Pokemon TCG Pocket revealed this week that its players have collected more than 40 billion cards between them, handing out a promo card to celebrate. Some players have contributed to that number more than others, such as a YouTuber in Japan who is almost certainly the first Pocket player in the world to unlock the achievement for collecting 50,000 cards.
The YouTuber who hit that unbelievable goal less than three months after Pocket's release is Hajimesyacho (thanks, Automaton). They shared the accomplishment with their followers at the weekend, implying that they collected their 50,000th card on January 19, 2025. Two packs per day alone won't have got them there, of course, and they have had to spend an awful lot of money in a short amount of time to make this happen.
