Today's Xbox Developer_Direct promised a surprise game, and they weren't kidding. Ninja Gaiden, developed by Team Ninja, is back and looks better than ever.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is the latest entry in the "high-speed action series" that is seeing a triumphant return in 2025. Team Ninja is also collaborating with PlatinumGames, best known for their work on Bayonetta and Nier: Automata, to bring the Ninja Gaiden series to modern audiences that are used to the popularity of Soulslike games.
While Ryu Hayabusa is featured in the game, a new protagonist, Yakumo, is developed as the main protagonist of Ninja Gaiden 4. While plot details are scarce, we see a glimpse of the two engaging in battle.
For those worried about how the iconic franchise will translate to today's gaming environment, Team Ninja and PlatinumGames promise this is still the same Ninja Gaiden experience fans know and love. The environments are developed to heavily feature verticality, which pairs well with a ninja's toolset.
