Sonic X Shadow Generations has sold two million copies in three months across all platforms. This puts it ahead of how much the original Sonic Generations sold in a similar timeframe, as it managed to shift around 1.85 million copies as of March 2012.
This success comes alongside Sonic the Hedgehog 3 surpassing its predecessor as the highest-grossing Sonic movie. With that in mind, it's safe to say that the Year of Shadow was a hit, and putting the fan-favourite anti-hero front and centre has given the series a huge boost.
Sega just announced the updated sales figures for Sonic X Shadow Generations, saying that worldwide sales have now surpassed the two million mark. It hasn't updated the original game's sales figures since 2012, so we can't tell if it's completely outsold its predecessor, but we do now know that it's selling faster than it did at launch.
