Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's life on PC is off to a great start. The game launched to 'Mostly Positive' reviews on Steam, which is a win when compared to Final Fantasy 16's Steam launch, a launch that was plagued with issues.

Its strong start didn't stop there, though, with the 2024 RPG breaking records for its concurrent player count on Steam.
First shared on Bluesky by Alejandro LL, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth hit a peak Steam concurrent player count of 40,564 over the weekend, according to SteamDB, an impressive number for a single-player title.
It's made more impressive by the fact that Rebirth now has the highest CCU peak of any single-player Final Fantasy game on the platform, taking the record previously held by Final Fantasy 15. The only game in the series to beat it is Final Fantasy 14, an online MMORPG, which peaked at 95,150 around three years ago.
