EA has held its latest quarterly results call with investors and is showing strong growth across the board with higher year-over-year profits. Most interestingly, Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen has said that he believes that unlike what most might think, Epic's Fortnite hasn't hurt EA's Battlefield player numbers, but rather that it has improved it. "How can this be?" you may be thinking. Jorgensen believes that more players are taking part in the overall shooter genre with Fortnite something akin to a gateway drug (our words, not his!) to the shooter genre.

WSJ reporter Sarah E. Needleman wrote, "He (Jorgensen) believes the game has introduced new players to the shooter genre, which should ultimately benefit EA since it has a significant presence in that area with its Battlefield franchise".

Jorgensen did, however, stop short of saying whether or not the next Battlefield game will contain a battle royale mode.
