The Thing: Remastered Now Nightdive's Fastest-Selling Launch Game

Released on December 6, 2024, Nightdive Studios' The Thing: Remastered has already proven to be a success for the studio, according to Atari.

In case you didn't know, Atari is the parent company of Nightdive Studios, and the latest sales milestone was revealed as part of Atari's end-of-year business report.

The Thing: Remastered Manages To Successfully Revive The Horror Classic

According to Atari's 2024 end-of-year report (vis ShackNews), "The Thing: Remastered was well-received by critics and players alike and became Nightdive Studios’ fastest-selling title at launch across all digital PC and console storefronts."

Given Nightdive has released some classic games with strong brand names such as Star Wars: Dark Forces, the new System Shock and more, this is certainly an impressive feat, though the exact sales numbers weren't shared, unfortunately.

It seems reviews didn't really play a factor in its sales either. Over on Open Critic, the game is only at a "Fair" rating, with the top critic average at a middling 72. Even so, the game still managed to sell well enough for Atari to include it in its latest sales update.
